Xbox One or New PC

So guys I've come to a fork in the road I have the option of getting the CoD Advanced Warfare Xbox One or use the money to build an ok PC that I can upgrade in the future. Now I want your honest thoughts and opinions no fanboys ok I already have $100 deposited but I can cancel the preorder and I'll have about $700 for the PC or I can just get the Xbox One and be done with it looking forward to your opinions

So it's clear that everyone is against the Xbox One can someone put together a build for $700 AUD

CoD Advanced Warfare is a reason not to get it.

But I love the design on the console itself

Well, $700 is not going to give you much in the way of hardware. If you reuse your old HDD, PSU, Monitor and keyboard, and buy only the mobo, CPU, RAM and GPU, you may be able to get something quite decent.

I'm sure the forum can show you a PC for 700$ which will easily beat the XO.

$700 doesn't get you much hardware in Australia since companies think it's OK to rip us off because we have a relatively high living standard.

Have you go an MSY shop near by? 'cause if you do, you're pretty much set.

So basically I told him to make a post here, but it's lacking personal input somewhat.

Basicly value / money is somewhat of an issue in this case, hence i told him to go for PC instead. Because you can get more games on-the-cheap during steamsales and such.

Is that 700USD or AUSD?

I recommend you stay clear of the "new" consoles they are rather out dated and a PC will serve you better. PC has more exclusives than wither of the consoles so unless you are a die hard Halo fan then I would definitely go with PC (Microsoft will one day realize Halo should go on PC anyway). The PS4 and XB1 will not have a very long life span I definitely recommend that you buy a PC.

Not as cheap as MSY but it'll do. You should be able to get a console killer with that budget, On top of that, gaming will be so much cheaper and you won't have to pay for Xbox Gold or whatever that rubbish is called.

700 aud, is something like 500 euro. You can get a core i3 + gtx750 system for that.

He could easily get an i5 with an R9 270 actually. A more attractive proposition.

Sweet mate, PCCG is probably your better bet.

8320 + r9 270 should be possible no?

<Parts and prices from PCCaseGear>

A R9 270 is $200-210 ($199 for Gigabyte, $209 for ASUS or MSI), a FX-8320 is $179, $100-120 for a mid-range 970 AM3+ mobo, $280-300 for a good 16GB (2*8GB) set of Corsair Dominator @ 1866-2133MHz ($280 for the 1866, $300 for the 2133).

If going for an FX-8320, You could probably scrape by on the $700 AUD build, especially if going for 1600MHz (say, Corsair Vengeance, $205 for a 16GB (2*8GB) set of 1600MHz Vengeace) instead of 1866 or higher.

And a needless cost. You bought the machine, you bought the game and then the greedy bastards want you to pay a subscription fee as well? Seriously, we're not money trees!
