How good is Metro: Last Light?

CyanOG

There is a steam sale going on and I have not spent any of my money yet that i have on steam because im waiting for good deals.. Today im seeing there is a $5 deal for Metro last light usually is $20 and i heard good things about the game mostly about its graphics and putting your PC to a test and since I have a powerful GPU in my not even a week old yet system i figure i should get this??

My questions are how does it compare and is it fun to play generally, is it hard to learn and how high could i run it on my R9 280

BONUS QUESTION: Anyone know when Steam will have games like GTA 4, Goat simular on sale?

Goat Simulator and GTA 4 are almost constantly on sale on Steam. If you want a cheaper copy though, you can go to Kinguin.

For me it was AWESOME. But I am a huge fan of the series (books too) so I might overhype it for you. But it's worth 5$ for sure. :)

play 2033 first you need to, the game references the first one allot. but over all amazing series both games are worth 20+ hour game play and can be replayed over and over

No, the 2033 redux uses the last light engine, last light retains it's current engine.

@OP buy it now while it's on sale (the complete edition) then when redux 2033 drops, buy that, play it and then last light.

It's an amazing and immersive single player experience that everyone who even thinks they might enjoy an FPS survival horror should play.

GTA 4 rarely goes on sale, Also Metro Last Light is amazing.

GTA IV is included in just about every major sale STEAM has and also goes on sale as part of other package deals all the time. I bought it, combined with Episodes from Liberty City, for less than $10 during the 2011 holiday sale.

OP, I've only played 2033, and its a good game. But its not some quick paced shooter. Its a horror/survival game so it can be slow and has more story telling than some people like. What for Redux to come out though.

No, Last Light is being updated too, not just 2033. Yes its the same engine still for Last Light, but the game is still getting improvements and will include all the current DLC.

Metro: Last Light Redux has also received a upgrade, including new melee animations and the fan-requested ‘Check Watch’ and ‘Check Inventory’ features. All previously released Metro: Last Light DLC will be included in this Redux version.

It's an awesome game you should definitely play it.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Read everything I said. It goes on sale by itself at random times too. But unless someone here works for Valve or Rockstar, we can't tell you when it would go on sale next. The only thing I know for sure is its almost always included in the big sales.

I'm hoping it does soon I completed every GTA game except GTA 1 and 2 and 5 and never really got to play GTA 4 much.

Having just finished it, I can say that it's a solid game but nothing special (except for the graphics which are very impressive). You should be able to pay it at 1080p, high-max settings and get 60fps with your graphics card.

There are sales on steam every week so keep checking.

For the most part I didn't find it scary, though I have to admit there were a few moments that made me jump.

I think its popularity was exaggerated by numerous tech reviewers who used it as a benchmark of graphical performance. They used BF4 because it was popular, they used Metro because it was demanding.
