The Global Internet Is Being Attacked by Sharks, Google Confirms

I'm totally not making this up...

"Reports of sharks biting the undersea cables that zip our data around the world date to at least 1987. That’s when the New York Times reported that “sharks have shown an inexplicable taste for the new fiber-optic cables that are being strung along the ocean floor linking the United States, Europe, and Japan.”~Will Oremus

Hopefully we can find a solution that's good for the internet and sharks.

Well, if we can get PETA to stop being hippies then we could place mines around the cables? Barbed wire? Underwater machine guns?

I guess you could say that shark was taking mega bites.

Weird. The image is broken in-line but when you quote it it shows up...dafuq.

Why not just lay some sort of metal housing over it?

It would be easier, tastier, and more profitable to just expand the japanese shark fishing industry.
