[CAN] Memory Express - EVGA 760 Dual SC: $229.99 ($249.99 - $20 MIR)

Gravt

A pretty sweet deal for a 760 if you ask me, pretty much on par with a normally priced R9 280.

Similar price or not the 280 is a faster card overall.

.. but if someone wanted PhysX for say The Witcher 3 the AMD card can't provide it so this is a pretty good option here.

PhysX can be run on the CPU.

Whatever work arounds people try to get PhysX to run like it does on Nvidia it does not work out the same way or does not work at all due to Nvidia blocking things..  There is a reason Nvidia protects PhysX and don't share it with AMD.

PhysX ... play games the way they were meant to be played.

What workaround? This setting is done automatically in pretty much every PhysX based game if you're not running Nvidia GPU's.

It does not produce the same effects at the same performance rate that using an actual Nvidia card does.

Of course it doesn't, Nvidia GPU's are designed to run PhysX. Normal CPU's aren't, however the performance of PhysX on the CPU is dependent on how it is implemented in the game and from what I've heard the PhysX implementation in W3 won't be anything special.

I've seen people running phsyX fine on say borderlands 2 running 7850s and FX 6300s

PhysX should never be what pushes people to buy a GPU based on something like physX or tressFX or w/e.

You should suggest cards to people that will benefit them the most in more games with the r9 280 does. It just costs less and consistently gets markedly better FPS then the 760.

Telling people to get a card for something like physX is telling them to make ALL their games run worse just so 1 or 2 of the games they play have a cool blob effect or something.

PhysX should just be a benefit a little treat for having an Nvidia card. not a selling point.

My Rig "Corsair air 540, MSI Z87-G45, i5 4670k, EVGA ACX 780, Gskill sniper 2x8gb 1866 memory, Corsair CX500m modular 80+ bronze, corsiar h100i, toshiba 1.5tb HDD." / Peripherals "Acer H226HQLbid Black 21.5" (Main monitor), Acer S200HLAbd Black 20" (auxiliary), Razer blackwidow ultimate 2013, razer naga 2013, razer goliathus 444x355 speed edition, Sennheiser HD8 DJs"

For the record I have recommended the R9 280 for people who don't want to play all games the way they were meant to be played.

Because AMD fans think raw unmanaged performance beat's everything. Like having a 1200 horsepower honda civic over a lambo or ferrari.

The simple truth is, there are games you flatout cannot play if you go with AMD, unless you figure out some kind of workaround for physX. When I was running only on an APU, I bought mass effect 3. Come to find out, I couldn't play it. Not that "I didn't have a cool blob effect" or something, but I flatout could not play it. It outright would not launch, telling me that physX is necessary to play the game. This isn't just a few games either. Any game that uses PhysX cannot be played without some kind of ridiculous workaround.

Im actually talking in raw performance too, because my friend has a 7970 and we have pretty similar FPS on games, even on syntetics like valley, he scores a bit higher but not by much (i score 2k and he 2.150 on the extreme preset) we both have 2500k cpus. Im not sure how much better is the r9 280 than the 7970 but i dont think is that much

Comparing GPU's that are that similar is always a bit iffy from what I've seen. The "silicone lottery" always plays a part. Unless your comparing wildly different cards, like a 280 to a 780, or a 760 to a 290, there isn't much difference other than support, looks, etc.

No, I am saying that not everyone want's to have to tinker with stuff to be able to play a game on their PC, and then have it be buggy at best. Some people just want to be able to plug it in, install the software that comes with it, and have it work.
