LEDs and other questions

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

You shouldn't buy cheap crap LED strips from chine that fail in a couple months. But to answer your questions:

1) no you only need 1 black wire.

2) no you cannot. If you put the molex connectors in parallel it is the same as just using one. If you put them in series you will burn out your power supply. You cannot add more current/voltage to make them brighter when they are connected to molex, because they already running at 100%

So I have some questions. I'm pretty sure what I'm thinking is correct but I just would like for someone to double check my thought process.

So first off, I would like to take these LEDs (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B005EHHLD8) and make it so that I can just plug them into a molex connector.

First off, if I used a molex connector I would just splice the LEDs into the red and black wire spot on a molex connector as that corresponds to 12V and Ground. Do I need to splice the ground into both of the black wires or just one? I don't believe I need to.

Second, if I want to have more current running through my LEDs to either make them brighter or have a longer string of LEDs could i splice the LEDs together with two molex connectors together? I believe that this would work.

I'm sure there's more that will come up but please let me know if I'm correct.

0) Really? Do you have a better suggestion for a strip like that?

1) Okay thanks.

2) Wow good to know thanks!

Well the best way is to look at customer reviews of the product. Just search for similar products that fit your budget and pick the one with the least 1 or 2 star reviews.
