How to run Nvidia Shield tab at 16:9 ?

Hi,

 

Does anyone know how to run the Nvidia shield tablet to fit a 1080p display without black bars (mini HDMI output)?

 

The native is 16:10 so I guess one of the two displays would have to have an inefficient aspect ratio in mirror mode; I would like it to not be the TV.

doesnt the shield tablet have a console mode that effectively kills the tablet display and runs at 1080p output only?
