Dayz comming to PS4! Unfortunately...

The zombie survival horror game “DayZ” will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Sony announced Wednesday during the video game conference gamescom in Germany. Bohemia Interactive released the game last December, and it is currently available on Steam Early Access.

 

During its gamescom press conference, Sony (NYSE:SNE) invited Bohemia Interactive game designer Dean Hall to the stage, where Hall, 32, confirmed that a reworked version of the popular zombie game is currently in development for the PS4.

 

 

 

Bohemia Interactive didn’t confirm a release date for the PS4 version of the title, but it could be years, since the PC version of the game is technically still in its alpha phase. Though the game continues to grow in popularity and currently counts more than 2 million copies sold, it still contains a number of glitches, since it’s not yet a fully developed title.

 

Anyways, I would love to hear your opinions guys.I honestly didn't believe the news untill I actually looked it up myself. I think it will just be a dummed-down, terrible looking, low res port. Is there even enough controls on the PS4 controller to be able to do every function in the game? I feel Dean Hall just sold out, and took a big dump on the community that got the games where it is today.  Hopefully the crappy port wont affect Dayz at its final stages (Though Dayz is kinda crappy right now). Like I said in the beginning, would love to hear opinions...

I have seen people play that game on ultra with a 4770k and a GTX 780 ti and at times their getting 15 fps. How is it going to run on PS4

Not with the engine they currently have or will make in the future. Ive had many many hours tied up in ARMA 2, ARMA 2 Dayz mod, DayZ Sa, and ARMA 3, and I can tell you if they try to run it, it will be at 720p and one of the lowest graphics presets. There is no way they can have the game look good and have a decent framerate. Its just the nature of the game. Dayz and ARMA are very taxing and you must have the proper hardware to have a visually pleasing and performing experience (Which the PS4 does not have). Its gonna be fun to see what they rig up.

My predictions will be 720p at 30fps around medium settings. The controls and layout may be something like the console version of Minecraft...

 

In my opinion though, at least the console gamers get a small taste of what it feels like to be a PC gamer. Not only will the console gamers have this but H1Z1 will also be coming out which is an upgraded version of DayZ basically.

Think this is really much more an optimisation issue than actually a taxing game. If a 4770k+780ti system struggles with what I can see with screenshots at max, its not actually that graphically impressive, but is very expansive which is probably where the performance hit is coming from

new game that Dean Hall is working on, which hasn't even been announced. And his promises, and this PC central promise especially, will be real because his team will be too lazy anyway to keep the PS4 game's progress the same as the PC's game.

2.) Sorry, I should've mentioned the Enfusion engine that Dean Hall and his team are working on.

3.) What makes you think that they would port this to the PS4 if they didn't have the new working engine?

God I hate the controls in the PS3 for minecraft they are so annoying! With a game with so many functions to do I'm kinda confused on whether it's actually possible to do it.

You probably don't get used to things as quickly as I do. I found it to be a lot easier because I didn't have to close out the game, go on Google, and look up how to craft the thing I wanted...
