What's the best 1440p IPS Monitor?

Koopax

I'm looking for a new monitor setup.

There are 2 options:

a) Two 2560x1440 displays

b) One 3440x1440 display

The monitor(s) will be mainly used for work (Web Development, Photoshop, Illustrator) and should cost around 1000$.

The monitor(s) should have:

  - an IPS Panel

  - a clean look (Are there any monitors with an aluminium body?)

  - a USB Hub (Not a must, but a nice addition)

Thanks

Asus PB278Q is pretty good.

Dell's U2713HM is good too.

Two 1440p displays will give you more screen real estate, the only disadvantage being the bezels. Also, 2 monitors are usually great to improve productivity, you could have one in portrait mode if that fits your needs or just have them side by side for tons of horizontal screen space. I personally think that bezels actually help because you can physically seperate 2 tasks, I don't know why but it really helps your brain concentrate on different things IMO. The Viewsonic VP2770 has a USB hub (2x USB 2.0 and 2x USB 3.0), has a PLS panel, is a 1440p monitor and looks pretty clean (no aluminium body, but a very clean, black look). It doesn't really fit your budget though, I always forget that they're more expensive in the US. 2 Asus PB278Q would definitely do the job, they're just missing the USB hub. Also, do you need a perfectly calibrated monitor for colour critical work? Because they're usually more expensive than what you're asking for.

Just going to mention the monitor I use

The AOC Q2770PQU, uses a Samsung Super PLS panel (mostly and its probably the same one Asus use) has a USB 3 hub, fast charge USB port, pivot, swivel and height adjust, and a very good matte coating that is smooth with no rough visable texture

TFT Central really liked it

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/aoc_q2770pqu.htm

Check out the page, they compare all the top 1440p IPS/PLS panels near the top of the review

"The ASUS PB278Q is a display that is very similar to the q2770Pqu. It’s build around the Samsung LTM270DL02 PLS panel, which was also used in early production of the q2770Pqu and which is very similar to the LTM270DL06 panel. It features the same Mstar MST9687D controller"

The best sub $1000 is definetly the PA279Q. Anything better and you looking at 1500 to 2000 and I would then start looking at 30in monitors.

Oh and I do own one. I also own a PB278Q.

Thank you for all the answers.

16 Million Colors are actually good enough.

However I wonder about the Viewsonic VP2770, it is quite cheap for over 1 billion colors.

I consider the ASUS PA279Q too expensive compared to the LG 34UM95, which has the same color depth.

just because they have the same number of colors doesnt mean they can represent them as well also there is the rest of the electronics in the monitor and the general design of the device you have to take into consideration.

The benq bl3200pt has an aluminium stand and doesn't use PWM dimming. The constrast ratio and black levels are better than most ips displays because you don't have to deal with "IPS glow"

Thanks for all the answers

I will go with 2 BenQ BL2710PT or 2 ViewSonic VP2770-LED

However I find it very difficult to make the last decision

I'd go with the benq. It's extremely underrated imo and it doesn't use pwm dimming.

You can't really go wrong with either monitor though. You have good taste.
