Is the Shield Tablet right for me?

So...

I really like the concept of tablets. I had an iPad in high school (cuz lol the schoolboard thought kids could actually do work on iPads HA), and I would definitely never pick one up again for business. That honor is reserved for an ultrabook or Win 8.1 tablet.

But I did like using it for media stuff like Youtube, movies (Netflix), etc, and I might want to start into some mobile gaming and game streaming soon.

Is the Shield Tab a good deal as a high-performance tablet, even when you ignore the whole game-stream gimmick? I might use it for notes, too cuz school OP

I watched Linus's review and I'm thinking YES, but idk for sure...

Yeah, Linus didn't go into much depth about it, that's kinda the one thing I still need info on. Seems like it has good software control for it.

I don't know much about it also but it's nice that if it breaks you will not have to pay a ton of money for a special stylus like the note tab

Samsung left a bad taste in my mouth with the Galaxy S3 phone...

Does resolution warrant crawling back to them for more abuse, especially when devices at that size already appear "retina" at normal viewing distances anyway?

You have to pay extra for all the little accessories, right? So they advertise a $300 tablet, but that's JUST the tablet and doesn't include the cover, stylus, controller, etc?

The Shield Tab is still a great deal as a high-performance tablet even ignoring the game-stream gimmick. Which honestly isn't all of a gimmick, since you have a 780Ti and it's a lot more fun being able to play your PC games in bed and stuff then you think it is :P

@sqwidee there might be ways to hook up a PS3 controller to the Shield Tab...

INTEL i7 4790K | GIGABYTE GA-Z97X GAMING 5 | A-DATA 16GB | PCS+ R9 290 | SAMSUNG 840 EVO | MOMENTUS XT BARRACUDA |  FRACTAL DESIGN R4

That's not bad at all...

I suppose I could shell out for the controller when I feel like trying gamestream, but I play stuff like Smite mostly, would probably use the streaming for ports of console games and indie games.

Also streaming could suck for me because I have "The greatest Home Wireless Network provider in America" and this Comcast Xfinity Wifi sucks BALLS. My ping in milliseconds would be longer than the total time it would take me to walk to my PC across the room from my bed xD

I have a Sixaxis hooked up to my Xperia Tablet Z to play PS1 games on an emulator. It works seemlessly with Android if you're rooted. However whether gamestream officially supports PS3 controllers is a different story.

I'd rather run an ethernet cable across my floor to every PC rather then use the WiFi router that comes built into the ISP modem. Aftermarket or bust.
