Nope. Graphics, lack of games and controls really bring it down.

Because it isn't right now? The whole console vs PC discussion is dumb. The motto is and should always be: why not both? Obviously people who say console is better than PC are just stupid but that's not all that there is to it. Not everybody wants to spend $1500> on a killer PC to have 120 fps at 1440p or whatever else your poison is. There's a clear, huge market for people who don't feel the need for more than 60fps at 1080p, which is exactly what a PS4 will get you for $450. This includes console exclusives, more flexibility and mobility, highly optimized games (because companies recognize that console is where the real money is at) and less hassle for the not so tech savvy. People should get what they feel they need/can afford to have the gaming experience they're looking for.

I used to have fun, it also used to be better. It's future is unknown and all we can really do is wait and see, though as a PC gamer I don't know why you give a damn.

Its been good in the past, I think in the correct form it can be good again but it will take change on all sides.

We as gamers need to possibly adapt our usage models and consumption models RE: DLC, expansions, subscriptions, P2P etc.

Devs and Publishers need to change their attitude, RE: exclusives, crippling platforms, milking the customers, paid early access.

Hardware developers need to embrace a unified system for multiplayer so everyone can play together, upgradable, multipurpose and customisable.

Obviously a lot of these things are unlikely or next to impossible but anything can happen so we will see. Cloud servers such as Nvidia GRID may help as well as the gameplay experience is not determined by local hardware.

It's not exactly bad now, you get a decent experience, but then it depends how you define good?

It's good in the sense that you can stick it under your TV, buy a game in a shop, stick it in the drive and you know that it will work no questions asked. You don't get that with a PC, there are always settings to be fiddled with and sliders to be slid!

It's not good in the sense that the communities in certain games can be a bit low brow and it is never going to be able to rival 'current' tech gaming PC quality, purely because they are driven by a low cost so they can get a large user base.

The only "bad" generation is the current one, since they launched with the same specs as a low-end PC, and they launched in the middle of the "buy 50% of the game at launch, 50% later" era

I always consider getting a console alongside a strong gaming PC.
Because of one little thing: exclusive titles.

Uhhh console gaming is good, and always has been. But if there is a game that is on PC play it on PC. Mario Kart 8 and Monster Hunter are two games I play more than any other game. Soo yeah... Not to mention Uncharted, Last of Us, and the likes of very good exclusives... I mean hell the Sony exclusives are well worth the cost of the console even if those are the only games you get.

lol :P

Console gaming is good for one thing, friend comes over and you hand him a controller and you're both playing. Because f**k carrying my rig over to my pals house just to play a game.

It depends on what you like. I like both, but I prefer the console controllers to mouse and keyboard, and all of the controllers for PC I have trouble with. I enjoy consoles and will continue to do so, but I will also enjoy PC gamimg. Also: exclusive titles + get games quicker.

Roses are red, violets are blue, computers are awesome, and so are you!

Gaming notebook.

we all know they don't really give you the best bang for buck. I would never replace my rig with a gaming laptop just to move it.

Better advice would to get a DS.

Console gaming is good now if you don't suck with a dual analog controller.  I would kill to be better at console gaming than pc gaming.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

Consoles have their place. I'm a PC gamer myself but I still felt the need to own a Console (which I did, a 360). When friends come over and they want to play a casual game to pass the time, they play some of my racing games or fighting games, when i throw a party or some relatives and their kids come to visit, they can sit down and enjoy some of the Xbox Arcade games or some of the Kinect games etc etc etc.

In that respect, I think they are pretty good on what they do, which is casual gaming.
