Intel Pentium G3258

iam going to be buying an intel pentium g3258 for when i build my htpa and i was unsure if i should buy a z87 or z97 board?

Main Rig: i7 4770k @ 4.2Ghz, sabertooth z87, Gtx 980, hx 750 ,16gb vengeance pro, 120gb kingston ssd, 3tb segate

Are you planning on overclocking? I wouldn't overclock in an HTPC.

Save some money and get a ASUS H97 and overclock it.

If you're not going to overclock it, it's going to be the same as any old Pentium. If I were you I would get an APU so at least you get decent graphics.

Asus' H81, B85 and H87/H97 boards can overclock the Pentium G3258. Unless you need some of the advanced features of Z87/Z97 boards, you can def save some cash there.
