I would get a 6300 if you can stretch, you're kinda pushing it with a 270.

Just get a 6300, the 4300 is pretty poor

I have the fx 4300, its perfectly fine for gaming with. I am personally having no issues with mine at all, and I have not overclocked it either. I was originally gaming with an nvidia gt630, and even with that weak GPU with the fx 4300, it was fine for gaming. Now I am using a gtx780 in my system, and the fx 4300 is still going strong. I picked the fx 4300 based on budget constraints last year when I put my system together, and it fit my budget perfectly. I game on it, I record gameplay on it (pc footage through MSI afterburner, and now shadow play, and console footage with a hdpvr2 and hauppauge capture), use a good video editor on it, 3d model on it, and draw/paint on it.

Get a stronger chip if you can, but if you cant, the fx 4300 will hold up perfectly fine.

Games I was playing with the gt630 and fx4300 combination.

All 3 batman arkham games
Tomb raider 2013
project cars
assetto corsa
fallout new vegas
skyrim
startrek online
crysis 2
bioshock infinate
F1 2013
Grid autosport
grid 2
Injustice: gods among us
Mortal kombat komplete edition
Rocksmith 2014
COD black ops 2
battlefield 3
fear 1, 2, and 3
Mass effect 3

And that is not counting the other games I own for pc, along with the games my boyfriend owns also.

FX-6300 > i3 > FX-4300

Single-threaded performance is crap on FX CPUs, the whole point of them is being able to get many cores for low cost... the FX-4300 defeats that. The FX-6300 will be capable of supporting much higher video cards and more demanding games. Some games it will be identical, while others such as BF4 multiplayer will benefit significantly from the FX-6300. It's definitely worth the extra $20.

The FX-6300 has 40% more multi-threading performance... logically even if the FX-4300 took awhile before not being sufficient, the FX-6300 would outlast that point significantly because of how much more horsepower it has overall.
