Different fans in push/pull?

Jonis

So, im planing on installing NZXT Kraken X41's to my SLI GTX 780's and want to put the radiators in the front of my Corsair 760t. The thing is that i dont want to remove the AF140 white led in the front of the case because it looks so nice with the led, so my first thought is to have them as push and some noctua NF-A14 IPPC 2000rpm as pull. Is that possible or will the fans interfere with eachother? Maybe i should come up with some idea with a spacer or something?

They won't interfere, but the AF fans are not designed to go on rads, as they don't have a lot of static pressure. That is why you have the SP120 fans  :)

Yeah i know, but i want the x41 and they are 140mm. +there is no SP120 with led.

And are you sure there wont be any problem with the different RPMs and the CFM?

I know that the AF140 is not that good for rad, but want to keep them for the looks and i was thinking like, AF140 for the looks and then the noctuas for the performance, eventho the IPPC does look pretty nice, but want the front led fans

As long as the fans are working in the same direction then you shouldn't have a problem.

Have you seen this - http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/case-fans/air-series-led-fans

Wow, no i did not see them, did not find them on the usual webstores i look at.

Still, would it be ok with like the SP140 led in front on low RPM and then NF-A14 as pull?

Going to have a X61 in the top for CPU and dont want to many leds, already got 2 led strips, 1 in top glowing down and 1 in the bottom glowing up, and i think more led fans on the X61 rad in the top might be to much, so will still get NF-A14's for that one.

Yes it should be fine. I don't know what the noise will be like, but it will work ok.

Well, worst-case scenario would be that i remove the NF-A14's and only use the SP140 leds.

Thanks for the help! :)

It's not recommend you use different fans for push/pull. The weaker fan will be pushed to it's limit reducing it's life-span and potentially causing unwanted noise. Get the NF-A14 IPPC's and use some Darkside Mods Dimmable led strips or something.

That was what i thought. But if i would make like a spacer for the AF140/SP140's and the radiator so its not fully mounted, so the NF-A14's could pull air from the sides, would that work? if that makes any sense?

You mean using spacers so that the push fans aren't directly up against the radiator right? It could work, airflow fans aren't that great when they're directly mounted against radiators so they should be even less of a problem when they're offset with spacers. Ideally they'll just supply more fresh air into your case that the NF-A14 can utilize without actually helping to push it through the radiator. I can't really find any concrete info on anybody who's done this but it's worth a try.

Yeah thats exactly what i thought. Then i could save the AF140's and just try to find some longer screws for the spacers and the rad would still get new fresh air but wont be restricted by the AF140's

Just a little update, found 2 old black coolermaster fans that im going to saw off the corners and use them as a spacer, just need to find longer screws that goes thru another set of fans. Will update you then, the kraken x41 will release 15 aug in Sweden.
