Phone Plan

Cs342

Hi guys, I'm going to be moving to California for college and I'd like to know what phone plan I should get since I don't live in the US right now. I already own an unlocked HTC One M8, so I'll probably just get a plan that just comes with a sim card and not a new phone. I will be making regular long-distance calls as well as a few local calls here and there. 4G would also be a nice feature but I'll settle for 3G if it's much cheaper. Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Look at the coverage maps for the specific area where you intend to move.

Verizon will bend you over and fuck you.

T-Mobile's service is questionable in a few places where Verizon is... decent, otherwise they're great (for the most part.) - I use them, by the way.

Sprint is almost cringeworthy.

I would never wish AT&T(errible) upon anyone.

Every other cell provider is actually just a reseller. There's Ting has been advertised in some TechQuickie videos, it's a Sprint reseller and I'm not too sure about how they, as a company, are.

Edit: I pay less for 4 lines with unmetered text/data, 1000 minutes total, and insurance on 1 line ($180 totale), than my friend's family does with 2 lines, both being iPhones with 4GB shared data, unlimited text, and not sure on the minutes ($300).

Why all the hate xD Sorry I've never used any American service providers before so I have no idea what's going on

Sprint has a notoriously unstable network. AT&T is just all in all bad. T-Mobile is considered the "uncarrier," which they don't lock you into a contract. Their network and customer support has been nothing shy of excellent to me. Verizon literally will eat your money and use it to fuel their addiction in lying to destroy net neutrality.

I have a lot of friends who say AT&T is great, but T-Mobile seems pretty good too. I like the fact that they don't lock you in.

They're called MVNO's - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_virtual_network_operator

They basically partner with or rent from the major carriers to use their infrastructure.

That means they will have the same coverage but different support/prices
