in my opinion you should go with the 760 if you are willing to pay a bit higher price.

I'd go with the 270X

But why not the 280 (non-X)?

A got a tip from Youtube where I can change the build a little bit and might afford the 280 with this budget.

Is it worth it? How much increase do you think it will give?

I didn't find much space but then I come up with that I could take away the SSD and put in 280X instead. So I pay ca 16% more and get ca 17% more performance :-)

I'd rather get the 270X and the SSD. trust me the SSD is worth it. IMO i would slash the hard drive before the SSD

That is very true a SSD and the R9 270X would probably make the most sense... a SSD is a real hard upgrade and a huge performance increase for your pc.

In most countries 280 costs around the same as the 760 and performs more similarly to the 770 but check your markets  (or Pcpartpicker for your country and look at 280 <NO X X adds on $50~75 cost> ) Also don't look at the 270x look at the 270 if trying to save money unless not overclocking as clock speed is the single difference between 270 and 270x other than cost.

<proof about the 270 and 270x being nearly identical>

Slash the hard drive if you're going to do that. Just work on an SSD until you can afford a hard drive.

I don't think 270 non X exists in Sweden and pcpartpicker don't ship to Sweden closest location is Germany.

And I ended up taking away the SSD to get a 280X into the build instead.

So I can wait a few extra seconds if needed and I can always get a SSD later on when I have more money.

It's going to be about 10 seconds at first, but after you've used your computer for a but the SSD will load stuff 25x better than a hard drive

Plus reinstalling the OS on an SSD is a big hassle

I need to pay more money than 1tb and I only get 120gb.

Still worth it?

In this case it seems like I should just save and get them both at the same time ..

SSD does not give you more gaming performance, only faster boot times.

Still i would say grab a 280. its a 7950. which is a realy good card still. its on the same price as the 760, but its alot better.

Everything that you use often (like your OS, drivers, favorite games) should be put on the SSD. Music, movies, etc. on the HDD.

So 120gb is ok then ..?

and it won't take an hour or something?

That sounds good but is it worth getting 120gb ssd over 1tb gb?

It sounds like I need more memory but idk. If I need more then I might as well save more money for it.

Well some people overate the speed of a SSD abit.

Yes an SSD boots faster and loads faster, but wenn installing an OS, that is not that much faster then on a normal HDD.

But wenn installed, windows boots faster offcourse. But still boot times on a normal HDD is not that bad either.

So in my opinnion, its a bit overated. Cause SSD´s basicly get bottlenecked by the sata controllers still.

Speeds on the box most of the time, you will only reach those in the most ideal conditions, but you have to do tons of windows tweaks to achieve that.

OT: By the end of the day it´ll be your decision :). When you think a nice GPU does the trick, then you will have some good recommendations here and I am sure with whatever you´ll go you are going to have fun with it. All these GPUs named above a pretty darn good.

OFF TOPIC: @ Sintezza... with all the respect, that I have, can I ask you... but are you high?! Making such a wrong statement over a SSD like that tells me 2 things. First you do not have one and second you never got into detail with it, because otherwise you would definetely not make such a wrong comment.

A SSD is a real hard upgrade even with SATA 3GB/s. Sure you´ll benefit a lot more from SATA 6 GB/s... but most people have that since it is a standard for quite a while already (we are not looking at M.2 or PCIe for now).

Even the slowest SSD will kick any HDD right in the nuts, boot times are way much better, overall performance is a whole new level, oh and not to forget (Linus and Luke made a video of that) the longer you have your OS installed and used Windows the more you see a dramatic difference between a SSD and a HDD. It´s like a light year. HDD is fine for storage but an insult to compare this with a SSD.

But hey you don´t have to believe me, take a look in the storage sub forums and look for people that show their crystaldisk benchmark results. Btw I´ve got a Samsung EVO840 Raid 0 and my reading speed is almost 1TB/s... so much for that. Even in my HTPC I´ve got a Sandisk 120GB SSD (65 USD) ... boot time about 5 sec until Win7 64bit is fully operational.

Sorry guys for this excourse but reading so much crap after getting up in the morning makes my blood boil ;) .

Just throwing in my two cents... I'm probably going to upgrade to an SSD when Windows 9 comes out and do a clean install of that onto it.

SSD's are awesome but is more easy to grab a cheap SSD later than to grab a GPU later.

My recommendation is buy a 280 and a hard drive but make sure that you have some spare money for the SSD so you will be saving money to buy it soon.

In games you will notice better performance with a 280 and a HDD than a 270-270x and an SSD. But load times suck with a HDD. I have my new PC, only 3 days since I installed W7 for the first time, installed SP1, all the Updates and some games (BF3, TF2) and it takes 1 and a half minute or even more to load BF3.

Also try to not install a lot of stuff if you're going with the HDD and later upgrade to an SSD, cloning OS and transfering stuff can be hard.

Well i can tell you because if look at my profile, you would see that i have a Samsung 128GB Pro.

My statement is totaly right my friend, the SSD´s still get bottlenecked by the sata controlers, especialy amd suffer from this, but intel aswell. This also depends on which sata controler there is on the board, sata directly from the southbridge do run a littlebit better, then the As-media controllers in my opinnion, or the Marvel controller, because those  third party controlers run from a diffrent chip, diffrent chip means latency, latency means speed loss etc etc ;)

Next to that, to reach the advertised speeds of an SSD, you have to do tons of windows tweaks to achieve that.

To be more specifick, i did alot of benchmarks on the SSD, trying to come anything near close to the advertised speed, it cost me hours of tweaking windows lol.

Anyway, i nowhere said that an SSD is not a upgrade, Yes an SSD boots faster, and yes an SSD loads faster, that also what i have said.

BUt installing an OS, just takes alot of time, especialy building the registry, wenn you talk about windows. And that just takes some time. Installing an OS is also depending from which medium you run your setup, from USB or DVD drive or Network install, makes a huge diffrence aswell.

Also that an SSD boots faster is offcourse nice, but boot times on a normal HDD aren´t bad either.

My SSD boots into windows 7 64bit ultimate in arround 13 seconds cold boot from powerup.

My previous HDD did arround 18 - 20 seconds to cold boot into desktop.

Mention that i talk about cold boots, without X fast boot enabled. Offcourse you can boot faster with X fast boot enabled, but that has not realy much to do with the SSD in the first place.

Back to my story, i never stated that an SSD is not a upgrade, like i said.

But its not an needable upgrade, and that is where its all about.

You easaly can live without a SSD.

Your comment looks to me, that you state that you cannot live without a SSD, in my opinnion that statement is totaly wrong. Offcourse your system gets snapier overall with an ssd, but its not a needable upgrade.

I will not deny that an ssd is offcourse alot faster wenn it comes to loading times and what not. But it does not give me more frames per second!

My advice is to grab a better GPU instead of an SSD, simply because an SSD does not give you more gaming performance at all.

And also an SSD can be easaly added later on.

If you are on a budget, its just better to invest in a decent GPU instead of an SSD.

End of story. :)
