Which Audio Interface?

Sherako

I have Astro A40's w/Mixamp Pro. I also have MSI Gaming 7. Should I use SPDIF, 3.5, or USB for my headset?

I trip to make the fall shorter

use the SPDIF, the usb is only for voice chat and 3.5mm jack doesn't have the best quality

The 3.5mm doesn't have the best quality? Why?

idk it's just the way it's made i guess, it lacks in bass and creates a hissing noise.

You might just have a combination of bad cables, bad power, and bad audio system... I'm using the 3.5mm out from the onboard Realtek HD Audio on a Gigabyte F2A55M-DS2 rev. 1.0 and I don't experience anything of the sort... I'm using a 3m Bandridge 16 AWG 3.5mm extension from the rear port... It's not even shielded...

Optical may bypass issue with power, like ground loop, etc. But apart from that, there isn't a problem with 3.5mm. It'd be the same with quarter inch jack. If it lacks in bass something's wrong.

It's just the way it is with the astro's. If you plug the headset directly in the computer using the 3.5mm it's fine but if you plug the headset into the mixamp then use the 3.5mm cable to plug into the computer then it creates a slight hissing noise and lots of friends have this headset and they have the same issue. It's just the mixamp that it comes with isn't very good and your supposed to use the optical cable for game audio anyway. The extra 3.5mm connection is just for a secondly audio source like music from a phone or something.

So it's a flaw in the product then... In this case it would be better to use the SPDIF...
