Monitors are getting super hot?

Go to solution Solved by Askew,

CFL backlit displays run hot, the tubes are on the edges that's what the vents are for, to let the heat out.

LED monitors run cold.

You have nothing to worry about.

Hi o/

I'm currently using 2x HP L2445w monitors and have been for I think about 3 years? Not sure.

Anyway this isn't really an urgent issue since I think they've been getting this hot since I got them and they still work fine, but I'm just wondering if it's normal for these guys.

I mean, they get so hot that it actually burns to hold your hand against them for more than a few seconds, I'm surprised nothing has just decided to melt.

Are these monitors known for getting absurdly hot? or is this some kind of fault? Is there an 'easy fix'? or am I best just selling them and buying a new monitor(s) all together at this point.

nah it's the tubes themselves that get hot, display will be coolest in the middle where the PSU is, those monitors are CFL backlit.

How long are they on each day?

All day: 07:00- 02:00

CFL backlit monitors run hot, the tubes are on the edges that's what the vents are for, to let the heat out.

LED monitors run cold.

Thanks for the info

Nice to know =3

I've grown to really dislike the thickness of the bezel though, was considering buying 2x Acer H236HL, but they feel like a step in the wrong direction despite the fact that I like the aesthetic.

Meh, guess I'll stick with these for now and upgrade more important stuff, GPU, Cooling and Case.
