Logitech 5.1 Speakers: Center Speaker Not Working

So I got a Logitech Z506 speaker set, and after some configuration, I got the sound that's intended for each speaker to come out of that speaker, except for the center speaker. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, and I tried removing the orange cable that goes in the back of my PC, yet nothing gets the center speaker to work. I will include links to screenshots of all possible settings I have that could be related to this. Thanks in advance.

First of all, my Realtek HD Audio Manager settings.

Secondly, the settings when I right click and chose properties in the "Sound" menu.

(I skipped the "Enhancments" tab, as I don't think it has to do anything with this, but for the record, I only have speaker fill and loudness equalization checked.)

Third of all, the menu that comes up when you highlight the speakers in the "Sound" menu and click configure.

I know these are a lot of links so forgive me if you can.

If you are using Realtek you can make it run a sound test and see if the Center channel plays through the sound test. It is the Play button top left hand side. If it doesn't play through that then probably a hardware problem or connection issue or driver issue.

Nothing plays through the front speaker; I tried using the Realtek test and the one included with Windows. (http://puu.sh/azgVP/bc75c29758.png)

If it's not playing through the test, then you know it's a problem with the speaker itself more than likely. Where did you get the speakers from?

A big store where I live called Jarir. They're a trustworthy seller, and if it is a defective center speaker, I will return it and get a new pair, but I wanna make sure that it's a hardware defect.

If possible try plugging your center speaker into the right or left channel and see if it will play at all, if it doesn't you likely have an issue with the speaker or cable.

I switched the center speaker with the left speaker, and the center one worked with an audio test (the realtek one) but the left speaker didn't work. I'm guessing the jack on the back of the subwoofer is faulty. Am I right?

If the center speaker worked on another channel you've pretty much ruled out the speaker/wire itself being faulty.  So ya now its likely a problem with another part of your sound system.

And that is most possibly the jack that you use to plug the center speaker in, as when I plugged another speaker into it, it didn't work, and when I plugged the center speaker into another jack it worked perfectly.

  • 5 years later...

this is so common issue just ggoling at it,I'm having the same problem back and forth...center speaker sometimes works sometimes don't...and it frustrates me..

Logitech really sucks with speakers,I know a friend who bought Z906 and had same issue.

I moved the cables, unplug plug back nothing, seems like the issue is within amplifier.

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.
