Useful Audio Software

Brainiac777

Hello, I've seen many threads on this forum about switching the audio output between different devices such as between speakers and headphones. I've also found out some useful audio software that may help you out.

SoundSwitch (Switch between different audio devices)

Detailed Description

SoundSwitch is a program that runs in the background that allows the user to switch between different audio outputs, such as the front and rear audio jacks. To use the software, setup a key on your keyboard as the "switch" that alternates between the selected audio jacks. I personally have mine set to F1 since I rarely use that key, but you can set it to whatever you desire. An extremely useful software if you use both speakers and headphones, but only want them to play at specific times. NOTE: Their may be an issue where Windows won't differentiate between the rear and front audio jacks, this is due to Realtek's Audio Manager which can be fixed by going into the manager and changing the settings. It should look like this

Detailed Description

Volume2 is a program that displays the volume level when changed. I personally have my increments set at 2 units per click, but you can set it to whatever you want. The program also has other features such as quick volume changes by scrolling on the taskbar, this changes the volume level by 10 units instead of 2 for faster volume change. You can also customize the UI with different themes, the one in the image is the Metro UI theme/skin. Volume2 is an amazingly powerful software, it's like DisplayFusion but for audio. You can setup different hotkeys for brightness, USB safety removal, etc.

Detailed Description

MediaMonkey is just awesome. Way better than Windows Media Player due to it's functionality and customization. It allows you to theme the player, play videos, surf the web, etc. all in one program. It can level the audio on any track to any level you like, I have mines at 89db. It can also minimize to a MiniPlayer like in the image, or just disappear from the taskbar with the MicroPlayer. It's just awesome. the theme I use can be found here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=68761

It's only in 6.0 and newer. It's a new feature. You rightclick on the display fusion task bar and there is an audio devices tab.

Wow, I totally didn't know there was that kind of functionality in display fusion. How well does it work?
