Weird Lan disconnects

JebediahKerman

Hey,

I recently build a new PC and everything works perfectly exept a problem where my connection suddenly drops but now the strange part, it only drops while playing games on steam and it only looses connection to said Steam (and therefore the game) and Team Speak. I can however use my browser to open YouTube for example and the connection drop is only for a few seconds, which is still enugh to kick me out of my game + TeamSpeak.

With my old PC I never encountered this problem it's only since I build the new one.

Now all related specs.

Motherboard / LAN Chip: Gigabyte G1.Sniper M5 with the Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2201 chip

LAN Driver: Qualcomm Atheros AR8161/6165 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller - Note that I used the recommend driver from the Motherboard before and tried this driver to see if it would solve the problem, it doesn't but because it works I never changed it back but yes the recommend driver gave me the same Problem.

So if you have any ideas on how to fix this really annoying problem, please let me know.

- Niklas

is the cable pluged in properly  and not damaged?

have you looked at the updates for bios and chipset to see if there are any that might fix your problem?

Yes it is pluged in properly but if it wasn't my whole connection would be lost wouldn't it? The cable is the same as in my last PC so no problem there.

in effect no. if the cable was damaged in some way you do get link up/downs  known as link flaps.    does your event viewer show any info on this?

Ok double checked the cable, seems fine to me but why does the internet only drop if I'm gaming, even in Single player, and not when I'm loading Youtube videos in whatever resolution? To me it looks like some software issue but it's all up to date and compatible.

No, I don't have such software, I keep my pc as clean as possible with only a few programs running in the background.

I have open, AVAST, Skype, Steam, GeForce Experience, EVGA Precicion X, Display Fusion and my Keybord driver. And of course all that junk like iTunes software helper, java and firefox.
