SSD and HDD raid 10?

stuckseife
Go to solution Solved by ShadowCaptain,

Hello,

I've been running 2 500gb samsung 840 evo in raid 0 for a while now and doing manual backups so i was wondering if i can set them up in raid 10 with 2 500gb HDDs and if i can, Will the mixing of SSD and HDD affect the performance?

Thanks in advance :)

Would not recommend it, the SSDs will just slow to match the speed of the mechanical drives

Why not create automatic backups? or pop the 2 hard drives into a NAS or something

the SSD will have to slow down by a lot to match the HDD

Also RAID10 is not backup. It's for redundancy in case a drive fails. If you delete or overwrite a file by mistake, it's gone unless you have a separate proper 'backup' of it.
