Can I have one 144hz and one 60hz monitor at the same time?

yes u can use them at the same time u don't need to run it at 60hz if ur only using the XL2420Z for gaming but if u mean playing the game on both monitors i would not recommend that since u wont be able to see where u are aiming half of the time anyway 

I'm thinking about getting the Benq XL2420Z (144hz), and I already have a 1920x1080 60hz monitor, so I was wondering if I could use both of them at the same time. Would I have to make the 144hz one run at 60hz when both are in use?

You should be able to use 144hz on your main monitor but if you ever dual screen a game you will get bad tearing on the 60hz monitor.

Thanks, that answers my question perfectly. And I would only use the 144hz one for gaming and then both for just other normal computer stuff.
