Powerline -> Router -> PC ?

Would I be able to use a powerline adapter to have a wifi router in my room for better wifi for my shield tablet and then use another ethernet cable to go to my PC ?

The router i am using just now is down stairs, is it possible to leave that one on and have another in my room ?

I dont think that's possible, two routers will interfere with eachother. And adding a repeater would probably add so much latency.

I'd say you try without first and then see if you can stream without stepping up your wifi setup.

Two routers can be on the same network at the same time, I have had three at one point but am down to two now.

As long as DHCP is disabled and you static assign an IP address that is different from your primary router, it should work. I have my second router in bridge mode and it basically does just that. Check to see if your second router supports bridge mode, it's not necessary but sometimes can make the initial setup a little quicker.

Edit: I can not comment on how well this will work as my routers are connected by Cat5e cable and not a power line adapter.

I've done what you want to do via power line, works fine if you follow menendez's post.

You'll likely need to connect (the power line Ethernet cable) to a LAN port or change the settings (to LAN) if you use the WAN port

Look at the shield "approved" ones. There are two made by D-link that are around 100 dollars. Not the best in the world but generally have decent reviews.

I found this on ebay, i think it would probably do, there is nothing special about the approved ones

TP link is good/cheap, can't recommend a specific model but my older one was great, loaded it up with DD-WRT for more customisability

Yeah, i might get this one
