ECC Buffered memory. I have no idea where to put this even if I buy one.

I'm not too fussed about DDR4, it's not going to be some sort of major innovation, just larger capacities as well as a few other bits and bobs.

Anyway, there are hardly ANY motherboards that support it anyway.

The X99 chipset along with Haswell-E will be the first consumer motherboard that support DDR4.

But will it be handicapped to Haswell-E so that the last generation of haswell is unable to support DDR4 or....?

DDR4 will not be available to the LGA 1150 Z/H97 chipset for Haswell and Broadwell.
