The HS5s are a spiritual successor in a way to the tryed and true classic NS10s from Yamaha with some updated features which I bet most audio snobs would turn there nose up to because they spurn anything that isn't classic, I suspect that you couldn't miss with the. what I can say is that KRK is alright, but maybe not for you KRK seem to be the BEATS of studio monitors they are bassy (the comparison to BEATS stops here)  they are still solid monitors and a solid value and a little more fun than the Yamaha flat sound, personally I like a very flat sound and I bought my headphones because I read a review where the guys only fault with them was that they sounded a bit anemic so I was sold on them and I would also probably go for the HS5s.

There are different speakers for different people, I prefer my sound to be flat and true where as someone like Linus who swears by the DJ08s likes his music to have some excitement and fun to it while also accurately representing the sounds.

Why do you always die right after I fix you?

Personally I listen to a lot of bass heavy songs, so I like to have a good rich low frequency sound, which is why I have been looking at the KRKs lately. The only thing is... I DONT WANT A YELLOW CONE!! Its like Noctua theyre absolutely amazing performance wise, but looks they just dont match. My setup is black, white and red so anything of those colors.

I am also looking for something with built in AMP.
