The cooler (artic accelero 3) on my 290 failed, all the fans died. 

 

But, I can still play bf4 on medium settings with my core clock at 470 and memory clock ant 625 and the voltage/power limit all the way down. Got around 70fps average but capped my fps at 60 for to keep temps lower.

 

Temps max out 70c and vrm at 50c. I have passive 290! (@470mhz core and 625mhz memory)

Idles around 50c.

gameplay wast at 1080p, ctrl+print screen is acting weird some of the usage dips were alt-tabs

I ordered parts to watercool my 290 before this predicament, they should arrive later this week.

 

I'll let this double as a mini review for the accelero cooler.

 

Kept my gpu at 1140/1500 while keeping core temps around 70c at max fan speed. (fans were incredibly quiet)

Vrms hovered around 80-90c under full load gaming.

 

It does cause gpu sag though.

 

Overall would not recommend this cooler, nzxt g10/aio/extra heatsinks is a better solution than accelero.

Why don't you just put the stock cooler back on for now??

His temps are 70 with no fans. thats better than 90 with loud fan.

Still im surprised that you can passive cool a 290, id get some wire ties to tie down a case fan onto that cooler for slightly better performance.

Isn't the accelero mounted with thermal glue instead of thermal paste? You will have a hard time cleaning that.

Molex to SATA, lose all your data
