Should i do a retro review of an imac g4

spwath
Go to solution Solved by spwath,

Do it! At some point I may do a retro review of the mac blueberry, but that will be some time off. I would certainly like to see how it stacks up today, espadrilles compared to modern macs.

I did it

Should i do a review of the imac g4, and compare it to todays standards and review it?

That would be really interesting. Just the idea of web browsing on a computer that old makes me laugh.

No, its sad, my moms computer is so bloated.

Also, its because the old browser does a toned down version of the site.

that would be pretty damn cool to see!  Though, what if Minecraft causes the imac to overheat and blow up?  It might sound sily but its a legit concern for me, my moms imac burns my hand and you can feel the 120 degree heat radiating off the screen when my brother used to play minecraft on it.  I had to stop him in order to prevent the mac from bursting into flames.

Nope. The cooling system looks just like the cooling system on the mac pro.

Ring of intake all around bottom, 1 fan up top.

its exactly the same.

Also, ill stop if its hot

I still have one of those running downstairs. It's absolutely horrid to use now. It can't even play HD video and because it's PowerPC based literally nothing runs on it.  The only games it has are Marble Blast and a bad original Tomb Raider port.

I guess it would be cool to see how it stacks up against a modern PC, but I already know the answer :P

So far i like mine. IM not using it for intesive work on anything.

IM having trouble getting a completly working browser on it, but yeah.

I used it for photoshop 7 with my wacom tablet i got too, and to play music, as the speakers are really nice.

Ill compare it to my gaming pc, and my moms 2008 imac.

Ill compare boot time, shut down time, web page loading time, and more.

I believe the PowerPC CPUs are kind of not supported by anything on Mac OSX now. Our old iBook G4 was a complete brick.

What do you mean? I can use some stuff, just have to find power pc programs
