So I got an email from Google regarding their ISP

brownninja97

So sent me an email which linked to a survey, that survey was about them trying to expand their ISP into the UK and what prices we would allow. Then there was a few questions regarding what we knew about the google fibre isp and how happy we knowing that Bt, virgen media, plusnet etc were giving us speeds that were lower then their true potential.

This is great, google really is trying to expand their awesome isp, death to the lesser isps, the UK teams arent as bad as the US but any improves are welcomed we need faster speeds for "science".

Also in the email it mentioned that i shouldnt be forwarding the information in the email to anyone, the irony.

I think they just want you to be more tempted to tell everyone that Google is expanding into Europe.

Evil Google...

Man, you're so lucky. My local ISP/bandwidth wholesaler are fighting over who controls the gigantic fiber network that goes through the entirety of my state (this is unlike every other state for all I know, actually). They settled and now nothing is being done to the network and it's supposedly 100% functional and ready to be used.

What a country, what a life.

You could just move to the U.S. and pay like $180/mo for Verizon FiOS 250/250 or 500/500. I can't remember the exact speeds/prices.

I've heard about this a week or so ago and despite the fact that I'm just fine with BT it would be awesome if we could have Google Fibre down here in UK. Especially if the prices are reasonable compared to current ISPs. Looking forward to see how long it will take them to cover my area if they will cover UK.

Companies Here offering fibre optic have limit of about 10-50gb in inexpensive priced plans but even the priciest doesn't provide full bandwidth and they will limit everything with Fair Usage Policy and give us 100$ per month plan of 16mbps till 100gb then 512kbps after limit completes, that too few cheaper ones. Major Ones are real dark horses.

Yeah we pay £16 per month for 36down and 10up, we then get 50down and 25up and thats unlimited, since we got bt infinity we no longer got slowed down from downloading a lot of crap at once.

I have a 300down 20 up for 36 Euro so its a great experience and its cheap, but I would still welcome Google Fiber here. Competition is good !

I hope that Google comes to UK and you can enjoy a nice connection. And I hope you wrote replied to them that you welcome Google with open arms.
