I have been recently eyeing up the Audio-technica AT2020 and have been very much impressed by what other had to say about it. My ONLY concern with this microphone is that I am not sure if I would be able to use it with my Xbox 360/One.

I thought about maybe buying a USB to 2.5mm adapter that way it would plug into the controller from there. I soon realized that the controller might not be able to provide power to the mic.

If anyone has any knowledge on this please let me know ASAP!

The headsets that are spesificaly for XBox 360s have a box that plug into the audio coming out the XBox/goung into the tv(depends if you are using HDMI, the controller and the usb on the XBox. the headsets plug into this box via 3.5mm jack like the one used with smartphones.

As a side note the resom the box need audio that goes to the tv is so that you can hear what would usualy be coming over the tv speakers through the headset

If you could rig the headset to use a standard 3.5mm mic only jack then you could use an adapter to convert it to the smart phone 3.5mm jack and use other speakers/headphones then it might work.

the other way you could do it ,as you said, is by using a 2.5mm to separate 3.5mm jacks for audio and mic and again rigging the mic to be powered by usb but have the sound come out of a 3.5mm mic only jack and again use other speakers.

Both ways are complicated and would result in a loss of some of the sound quality.

Hope this helps and you understand it all.
