Looking for a small CPU heatsink

EST_FatBoy

Hello,

So I am looking for a small CPU heatsink. It doesnt have to be big, I cant OC and when I'm buying a new mobo/CPU I'll get a new one.

I was looking at the Cooler Master Vortex, but I dont know if my RAM is going to be in the way.

If you can't OC then what's wrong with the one that's on there?

why not just use the stock cooler if you aren't gonna OC?

The cooler is stuck at low RPM. When its under heavy load, it just stays at the same RPM when idle. I cant change it in the BIOS either.

look at Rosewill coolers, they're quiet, they work, and some of them are smaller than the stock coolers

Since the fan is PWM, changing the cooler to something else might not actually fix the problem. If you want to play it safe so that in case the replacement cooler's fan is still stuck at lowest RPM, then get a tower cooler like CNPS5X or Hyper 212. I have a Sandy i5 (84W) on a Hyper 212 Plus running without a fan at all and it still does better then stock Intel cooler

Thanks, I guess I just have to hope that my RAM wont be in the way.

How much space is between the CPU and the 212 Evo fan?

I'm not sure, but again you could just take the fan off, or have it pull air through the heatsink on the other side (by the IO)

What socket is this?

If you want something cheap and small(ish) I'd suggest some of these... I think you can get them off of Amazon or NewEgg or eBay... Not too sure since I don't use any of the aforementioned websites (they're not available in my country)...

I'm using a Gammaxx S40 (SRP: ~20USD(converted)) right now and all I can say about it is that it does its job.
