The fact you can get off the ship is +1

The fact you have fps(shooter) in the game is +1

The fact you have Planetside content is a +1 this are just 3 reasons I like star citizen more then elite.

Edit: and the fancy looking ships and 3rd person camera.

Seeing how this is only in pre alpha, I would say there is no reason.

No need to choose one over the other. Play ED now and SC later when that reaches maturaty.

Actually I am having tons of fun playing Elite so I would say go for both games. Elite has a very distinctive graphics style and some cool mechanics like docking and such. Star Citizen on the other hand will be the much bigger and more complicated of the two. Theres more simulation involved in SC. Also the graphics are more realistic and detailed.

I guess theres no easy answear as both games are becoming brilliant.

The fact it's cost me £27 and you get a single player and multiplayer WITH an MMO as well, its well worth the money.

Bearing in mind my PC can run arena commander at 3-15 FPS at the moment and I'm still playing it makes that £27 well spent.

And as I said... Chris Roberts

Elite to me just doesn't look exciting

400 billion star systems confirmed in Elite dangerous.

I don't think bigger = a lot of star systems, I think the sandbox is just flat out bigger, in SC there won't be a invincible wall if you keep flying in one direction. Not sure how Elite will be though, so far I'm only seen players warp around from A to B.

With that said, 400 billion systems is impressive if I can actually fly to ALL of them.

Its still 400 billion systems, IIRC SC have 100 or so planned ?.

@rentaspoon i Agree, but the game has some cool features, ofc so, e of them have been announced for SC but it's still nice to see them.

Yeah I'm not saying its bad, just £50 for the base game is to much for me to spend on something I'm unsure of, especially the lack of time I have for gaming atm

100/400 billion sound like there are going to be a lot of baron systems.

I'd rather have 10 - 100 dense star systems that you could fly to with no loading screens

The discussion was about how large the game would be so i dont know what you are pointing out.

That less is sometimes more

Also I'm not pointing anything out just expressing opinions :P

There's actually around 150 systems at launch with more coming consistently after release, and each system is around 110 million km in diameter... I don't think elite can match that.

Intel 2500K @ 5GHz,Corsair H100i, MSI Z68 GD65, GTX 970 STRIX, 16GB G Skill Sniper, Seasonic X750, 250 GB Samsung 840pro SSDs in Raid 0, Corsair 650D.

Okay so elite is £35 for the final game when it releases just to clear that up for those who think it will go up. SC is just ideas and promises atm elite says were doing this then in a few weeks its in the game so until i see SC put things into the game i think ill keep my money :)

I really don't understand why you started this thread your mind is already made up.

you say Elite be £35 but it's already £50, SC is £27 to be roughly £35 to £40

Star citizen is more complex and there are confirmed features every million dollars waypoints.

I don't mean to sound like a dick but things are going slow as they are building a lot of ideas from scratch (like the in game physics engine) and I'd rather them take there time but yeah if your not hyped I would even bother looking at it

Both have their pros and cons, when you look into the detail of each they are actually very different games. Personally SC draws me in more because it has (or will have) a lot more detail in it from what I have seen - not just talking about graphics here but complexity in all the systems. If ED had a lower price of entry I'd pick it up to have a bit of a play with but from what I've seen and read SC just suits me better.

Look, i get the feeling that star citizen is going to be vapourware. They're probably going to deliver, but i highly doubt it's going to be excellent.

It's going to underachieve, this i am sure of. The question is just how much.

What is my logic behind this? Well, the star citizen development seems to be going extremely slow... like.. DayZ slow.

That's fine, i guess. As long as they deliver on their promises, right?
The thing that really puts me off is that they are more concerned putting out small bits of tech demos to show off their game. They are trying to convince players that they are actually making progress by pouring time into fancy hangar modules instead of the actual game.

Yes, i understand that the hangar module will be a critical part of the game. But isn't the thing supposed to be playable before you start creating a grown-up version of "dress up girl"?

They're not focusing enough on the core mechanics, which is making me worried.

I think they simply promised too much, and they're getting outrun by a game a lot less backing behind it.

-snip-

Well the hangar module and the arena commander are all part of the final game. They are not just some demo to keep us along until they release more it's part of the actual game that's why it's taking so long for things to come out is because they are releasing parts of the finished game and they want it to be in a good enough state for us to test. Hope that made sense. :)

PC Specs: Case: NZXT Phantom 530; Motherboard: Maximus VI Formula; CPU: Intel Haswell I5 4670k; CPU Cooler: Intel Stock (for now); RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 2x4GB 1600 MHz; GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7950 DD; HDD: WD 1TB Caviar Black; SSD: Samsung 840 EVO; PSU: Corsair AX 860; Monitor: Asus MX23H
