How would I know if a cpu is stable after overclocking?

After overclocking how would i know if a CPU is stable or not?

Try and tip it over... If you download Prime 95 and stress test it that should give you a good indication of if its stable. If possible could you post a little more info?

Make sure it's not a Haswell because it overvolts sometimes.

Battlefield is actually a fairly good way of stability testing a GPU also, I remember when Heaven first came on the scene, a card would pass as many benches as you like but try to play a multiplayer round of BF3 and driver crash in 5 minutes if it's unstable.

Getting OC verified as stable is about your own judgement. Old safe test was Prime95 for 12-24h. Now you can get away with OCCT 3h or Aida64 for 3-8h. Even developer of OCCT says that there isn't any way to certainly say when something is stable software wise. You can run stress test forever and have it crash in games or rendering.
