Qouted info:

During a presentation held in Taiwan, motherboard manufacturer ASRock unveiled their latest HEDT X99 chipset motherboards which include the X99 Extreme 6, X99 Extreme 4 and X99 Killer. XFastest was able to grab shots of these new motherboards which we saw back at Computex where they were displayed in engineering state, while now they have been updated with the final heatsink designs and layout for Intel’s upcoming Haswell-E CPU lineup.

ASRock’s High-Performance X99 Extreme 6, X99 Extreme 4 and X99 Killer Motherboards

ASRock has showed three high-end desktop motherboard based on the X99 chipset which include the ASRock X99 Extreme 6 and X99 Extreme 4 which were seen back at Computex 2014 and a new addition to the lineup, the X99 Killer which is more of a gaming oriented and feature packed offering. Each motherboard supports its own set of features for overclocking and the latest LGA 2011-3 socket to support Haswell-E processors which will be shipping in the month of September in retail. The latest X99 Express chipset features featuring 14 USB ports (6 USB 3.0 and 8 USB 2.0), 10 SATA 6GBps ports, integrated clock support, 8×1 PCIe 2.0, Clarksville GbE PHY and the Realtek Audio Codec. The chip has a max TDP of 6.5W and measures 23x22mm which is larger than the X79 chipset. The platform would also be the first to support DDR4 memory.

ASRock X99 Extreme 6

ASRock-X99-Extreme-4-635x421.jpg

The ASRock X99 Extreme 6 would be a high-end offering from the company in the X99 product lineup. The board will fall below the X99 Extreme 9 that would be offered later. Last time we saw this board, it was bare of all heatsinks but ASRock has now showcased an updated version of the board which uses a heatsink set similar to ASRock’s Z97 motherboard lineup. The main VRM heatsink has two blocks colored blue with an X99 logo engraved on the top section. The other section of the heatsink that is interconnected via heatpipe cools the area behind the I/O connectors. The PCH is covered by a large ASRock heatsink.

From a technical perspective, the motherboard features a 12 Phase high-quality Super Alloy Power design. The CPU socket is powered with a single 8-Pin connector and the 24-Pin ATX power connector. Being a enthusiast and overclocking design, the motherboard comes in the ATX form factor featuring 50G Aluminum Alloy heatsinks that will be included on the final design, Premium Alloy Chokes, Dual-Stack MOSFETs, Japanese made high-quality conductive polymer capacitors and support for the latest and greatest Haswell-E processors. There are eight DDR4 DIMM slots, four on each side of the socket which can support up to 64 GB of Quad Channel memory with speeds of up to 2800 MHz (O.C+).

Expansion slots include three PCI-e 3.0 x16, two PCI-e 3.0 x1 slots. The expansion slots are all 15u gold contact in VGA PCIe slots and feature support for 3-Way AMD CrossFireX and 3-Way NVIDIA SLI. There’s also the Ultra M.2 slot and a mPCI-e slot along with a PEG and 4-Pin Molex connector which adds additional power to the PCI-e expansion lanes while using several cards. Storage connectors include 10 SATA 6 GB/s and a single SATA Express connectors followed by two USB 3.0 headers. OC switches and Diagnostic LED are located just below the X99 PCH. The motherboard comes with the Purity Sound 2 design which offers a 7.1 channel HD Audio jack powered by AL1150 codec and DTS Connect.

I/O on the ASRock X99 Extreme 6 motherboard includes 1 eSATA, 10 USB 3.0 (4 Front, 6 Read), 7 USB 2.0 (4 Front, 2 Dock, 1 Vertical Type A), 1 COM Port Header, 1 Thunderbolt AC connector, Intel Gigabit Ethernet LAN, ASRock HDD Server Technology, ASRock Cloud and Full HD UEFI.

ASRock X99 Extreme 4

ASRock-X99-Extreme-6-635x421.jpg

The ASRock X99 Extreme 4 would also be a high-end offering from the company in the X99 product lineup. The board will fall below the X99 Extreme 6 which is detailed above. The ASRock X99 Extreme 4 was shown without heatsinks but it is clear that the layout would be similar to the blue/black theme featured on the Extreme 6.

Expansion slots include three PCI-e 3.0 x16, one PCI-e 2.0  x16, one PCI-e 3.0 x1 slots. The expansion slots are all 15u gold contact in VGA PCIe slots and feature support for 4-Way AMD CrossFireX and 3-Way NVIDIA SLI. There’s also the Ultra M.2 slot and 4-Pin Molex connector which adds additional power to the PCI-e expansion lanes while using several cards. Storage connectors include 10 SATA 6 GB/s connectors followed by two USB 3.0 headers. OC switches and Diagnostic LED are located just below the X99 PCH. ASRock-X99-Killer-635x421.jpg

The ASRock X99 Killer is another high-end motherboard featuring the LGA 2011-3 socket to support Haswell-E processors. The motherboard features a red and black color scheme which is a fitting color scheme for the X99 platform. The motherboard features the ATX form factor like the other two boards detailed in the X99 lineup from ASRock.

From a technical perspective, the motherboard features a 12 Phase high-quality Super Alloy Power design. The CPU socket is powered with a single 8-Pin connector and the 24-Pin ATX power connector. Being a enthusiast and gaming design, the motherboard comes in the ATX form factor featuring 50G Aluminum Alloy heatsinks that will be included on the final design, Premium Alloy Chokes, Dual-Stack MOSFETs, Japanese made high-quality conductive polymer capacitors and support for the latest and greatest Haswell-E processors. I want x99 so badly. I hate my current motherboard. It's a pile of utter crap. Once I get x99 I won't be upgrading from it for quite some time 5 years probably. I will try and get around 32GB of memory to but depending on the price of DDR4 I might have tog et less. This should future proof me in the CPU and motherboard department for ages.

Yep, I'm going to try to buy the I7-5960X, but If I can't, I'll be equally happy with the 5930k.

Edit: I still kick myself everyday for choosing the 1155 socket instead of 2011. That won't happen this time.

I am still kicking myself for choosing a prebuilt HP back in 2011 instead of a custom PC:D

WON'T HAPPEN THIS TIME, HP!

For the people that are knocking Asrock did you know Asus regrets selling that part of the company off and wanted to buy back the brand?  Asrock offers feature rich boards at an affordable price and if they are good enough for Asus then they should be good enough for you.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

I just want the cheapest x99 chip the 5820k seems like the one I will end up getting. CPU performance in games isn't that much of a big deal and when you have a chip like this it makes no difference. Do you know if DDR3 will still be supported or will x99 not support it because if ddr4 is super expensive I might have to hold back or get lower capacity which isn't really what I want to do.

Ys the 5820k is the lowest end in X99 but it is a very high end CPU compared to Z97. So yes 5820k will be a popular one.

What do you mean by the RAM part? lol

I don't really think DDR4 is that that expensive. DDR4 is already for sale in sweden for reasonable prices, it is ECC though.

Yep.  like if it would be lower. But I expected for 16 GB kit around 400£ so I am happy that the price is lower then my expectations.

Would you rather own a Jaguar while they were British made or one made by India after the brand was sold off? I think that's the issue people have. They have more faith in Asus than AsRock and would rather have an Asus board vs a board from a brand no longer a part of that same trusted brand. Its moot that Asrock used to a part of Asus as a selling point with the "it's good enough for Asus" - different leadership entirely. I've noticed a trend of users not being exactly satisfied with AsRock after they were on their own.

Never used an AsRock board so I have zero right to say anything negative. I'm only reporting things I've observed and giving my reason for why people seem to diss AsRock in spite of old ties to Asus. Different management ect. ect. Not the same product.

In the end, isn't everything secretly a dirty Foxconn board?

Was hoping they wouldn't stick with the crappy blue heatsinks. I love AsRock but they need their bronze back.

And the Fatal1ty looks exceptionally cheap with that glossy red, kind of like a $5 miniature toy Ferrari finish

Guess I'll have to hope that Sabertooth or Mpower fit my spec requirements this time.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Wish I could afford, also wish they'd stop making all the cheaper motherboards (within same socket) be blue. ITS UGLY.

Red black looks nice, although done to death.
