Cutting the Cord and TV Antennas

samcat116

So my family wants to go ahead and cut the chord, but we are running into some problems and I figured that some people on here could be able to help. I have the easy part down. We are already subscribed to all of the major streaming services, so that takes care of all of those shows. The problem is sports and local content. From what I can tell, it is impossible to stream sports without a cable subscription(I'm aware of MLB at bat, but I care mostly about the NFL). The only real option seems to be a digital antenna, but I live in an area of very poor reception. There's horrible cell signal and some preliminary research shows that we would have to mount a pretty substantial antenna on the roof to barely get most of the stations. Has anyone else had experience with this and could lend some guidance? Anything would be appreciated. It baffles me that in 2014 you basically need a cable subscription to access most sports.
