You don't need a hugely expensive camera for YouTube.

only like .5% of people actually own 4k monitors and YouTube compresses the hell out of videos.

Most of the visual appeal on YouTube comes from tons of work filming and editing.

Besides, if you want good camcorder advice, go on a forum dedicated to discussing cameras where most members will have much more experience than this forum

If you're prepared to spend $10,000 on a camera, why are you asking 12-14 year olds on a tech forum what to buy?

If you're going to spend that much money, you should be smart enough to figure out how to spend it without asking others, especially others with probably zero experience in this field.

Go find a dedicated forum/ camera website to ask these questions on.

Just my 2 cents.

He does use a RED Scarlet. The others are wrong.

I thought it was Linus who uses a Blackmagic camera for some of his videos.

Back on the topic, GH4 is your best bang for the buck. Get that with quality lenses, tripods, audio, and lighting (maybe even the optional base) and call it a day. With 5000, this should be plenty to achieve this.

If you want RAW, Blackmagic 4k, along with the same stuff above.

If you really have money to throw away, how about REDs? Wait why even ask if you have that much money to burn O.o

I like the Blackmagic cinema camera. It has some ups and downs but overall, you can get a very decent camera for under 2000€/$

The only thing is, you cannot simply attach an exernal mic, because the sound basicly sucks so you need an external recorder, and also, the battery life is horrible so you also need an external battery.

But, it shoots in Pro Res, 4k, high ammount of data on each frame so you can do whatever you want in post, uses SSD's instead of memory cards (i consider it to be a plus), has a very friendly to use touch screen, and you can use the stardart canon lenses right out of the bat.

All and all, for around 1500$ I think its a good deal! there are some great reviews on youtube, don't just take my word for it! ;D

... you're over estimating :P

@OP Panasonic GH4

I'm pretty sure it does "true" 4K and not 3840x2160 (4096x2160)

I don't think it is wise to buy 4k camera now. Because 4k is still under devolment. Not worth to buy 4k camera yet. 4k camera with more higher frame rate with new tech are coming so wait till then.

If you are looking at stuff for youtube videos, before worrying about a 4K capable camera body I would look at lenses, microphones, sound recorders, lighting and if you go for the 4k make sure you have a computer capable of editing 4k video and an internet connection that won't have you waiting weeks to upload one video.

So in summary, don't worry about 4k - there are plenty of other things that are more important in video production for YouTube.

At $2500 you can get a GH4 and get the conversion box to do all qualities of 4k and still have money for lens etc. ATM there is no better choice in my opinion
