1st Build - Need Help, Tips, Feedback and Recommendations! :)

vilo9595

So Guys...

I want to build my very 1st mid budget Gaming Computer by myself and I could use some help. :)

I watched like 100 videos of reviews and stuff so I managed to setup the (I hope :D) complete list of components I want/need.

Now... I'm new to this so please tell me what you think about it and the changes you would make.

NOTE: I want to stay in that price more or less... I dont bother about some more money spend...

2nd (3rd) EDIT :

For my Case i want to go with a NZXT Phantom 530 because it looks great.

Because I get "more bang for my buck" I decided to go with the M5A99X Evo R2.0 Mainboad or the Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 and the AMD FX-8350 CPU.

For my RAM I chose the 8GB Corsair Vengeance LP kit.

The GPU will (maybe) be Gigabytes nVidia GeForce GTX 770 OC Windforce.

For Memory I'm going with the 2TB Seagate Barracuda as HDD and the 250 GB Samsung 840 EVO as SSD.

Last but not least, the PSU. I didn't knew which Wattage to go with so I chose the Corsair RM650, because I'll evnetually upgrade my PC with a Watercooling system in the future.

For cooling I want the CM 280L for my CPU and maybe some Corsair SP140s for general Cooling.

Hope it's "good" like this :)

if you get a sabertooth motherboard and 8gb of ram you could get a R9 290 Which is better for games and you can always upgrade ram later

Get a cooler master 212 EVO with that, the stock cooler on the FX-8350 is not enough

The build is good but you could save a lot of money in many places.

For example: choose a 8320 instead of 8350 and overclock it to the 8350 standards. Same chip.

Get 8gb of ram instead of 16.

Motherboard is too expensive. There are many solid motherboards wioth lower prices.

Since you have an SSD,there is really no need for a black drive.

And with your saved money, you could buy a 290 and have a MUCH better gaming performance.

Also 16gb is not really needed for gaming, downgrade it to 8gb and spend the money difference from the 16gb to 8gb on something else

Hope I didn't messed up too bad and looking forward to your advice ;)

personally i would get a 600-700 watts psu, incase you ever decide to Crossfire. read my build guide in my signature if you need extra help!

If you drop the ram down to 8GB and change the WD Black for a Blue and get a cheaper board, then you should be able to get an i5 instead.

I think I'll swap the WD Black for a 2TB Seagate Barracuda XT and I'll get a Single 8GB Vengeance.

Recommend another motherboard... how about a Sabertooth?

Ok I'm checking some stuff and now i got some more questions...

1. Can somebody recommend a GTX with this build? (for Advanced PhysX)

2. Which R9 290 would you recommend?

3. I don't know anything on overclocking but the community could help me with that, right? :)

Thank you guys for your help ^_^

EDIT: I'm going with an 650W PSU as recommended ty ;)

Why should I go with an i5?

I'm not a AMD or Intel Fanboy or anything, but what I've heard is that in that budget I'm going with there isn't any sense of going with an intel CPU, is it?

The i5 is a better cpu than the 8320/50.

Why? Explain yourself.

I'm Playing ATM:

Bioshock

Saints Row 4

Metro

Crysis 3

Witcher

Skyrim (Moded)

I also want to get a GPU which is able to run future games at medium-high quality

I what about the GTX 770 by Asus or the Windforce 770?

For memory look for a 2x4GB kit - DDR3-1600 CAS <= 9, or DDR3-1866 CAS <= 10. If you are going to get an aftermarket cpu cooler like the Hyper 212 EVO (a very good choice for an FX-8350/FX-8320 build) try to get modules that are < 37 mm tall - Corsair Vengeance LP, Corsair XMS3, G.Skill Ares, Adata XPG V1, Crucial Ballistix Sport, Crucial Ballistix Tactical, several but not all models of Kingston, Mushkin, Patriot Viper 3 Low Profile, PNY XLR8.

I would suggest the Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 or Asus M5A99FX Evo R2.0 motherboards.

The difference in performance between various brands of the same non-reference cooler gpu model is quite small. Choose based on price, noise levels, fit, and color scheme.

There are better quality power supplies than the RM series. At competitive prices. If you provide a link for where you are shopping someone can likely make a recommendation.

The i5 has a stronger single core performance than the fx8320. Unless you are needing the extra cores which gaming doesn't make use of (Apart from a few games). The i5 will also be easier to overclock due to it's lower TDP. The fx cpu's run pretty hot at stock.

THANK YOU ♥

Question: Why the LP RAM?

My RM650 costs 95€... yeah Euros :D

I think I'll go with the M5A99X Evo R2.0 thx :D

What do you think about the 770?

I dont worry too much about the heat and the i5 is more expensive and doesnt even have Hyperthreading so I think Im fine with the FX-8350 :)

LP or memory that doesn't have tall heatsinks because it gives you more options if you decide to go with an air tower cpu cooler. The very popular Hyper 212 EVO in its nominal configuration works best with modules that are <= 37 mm tall. The NH-D15 in its nominal configuration is best with modules < 32 mm. Of course if you go with a closed loop liquid cooler you can choose memory of any height.

https://afuture.nl/productview.php?productID=716618 and https://afuture.nl/productview.php?productID=494967 are very good psu.

The GTX 770 is a good gpu. Performance wise there is not a great deal of difference between the various brands. Choose based on noise levels, cooling, price, and appearance; which ever is most important to you. You might want to look at the R9 290. In some places its pricing is lower than the 770 and its performance is a touch higher. Again, there is not a huge performance difference between models that have non-reference coolers so pick the one that best fits your budget and noise goals.

I think I'll stick to the 770 because of the Advanced PhysX and maybe at one point I'll upgrade it by buying a 2nd and put them together in an SLI setup. :)

With Cooling I'm going with the CM Nepton 280 and maybe add some Corsair SP140s later on :)
