Purple Phoenix...a water cooled H440(UPDATE)(Complete!)

Hey there! I just started rebuilding my old water cooled rig that I built back in December. So I figured I would share my adventure with all of you!

So back in December I built my first water cooled pc based around a Bitfenix Prodigy. It was a very exciting project to do. Unfortunately I ran into some complications a few weeks ago with my loop. It started to turn brown! So after careful inspection and a complete breakdown, I found a few reasons as to where it went horribly wrong. First off...my blocks were full of gunk due to me not mixing my coolant to distilled water mixture properly. On top of that...I made another mistake while I was overcome with anxiousness to get my first water cooled build complete. I forgot to take the sticker off from the bottom on my CPU water block. *facepalm* Which in turn was making my CPU over heat and giving me the infamous BSOD. So after learning from all my newbie mistakes, I figured I would give it another shot.

So this time around I decided to go with a bigger case....the NZXT H440! I originally bought the limited edition blue/black case. But I wanted to go with a different color scheme. So, I repainted it. Purple! For now the paint is the only thing that I have changed on the case itself. I plan on installing a full custom water loop into this case within the next week or two. For now I have it all setup with the stock heatsinks and what not.

Anyway. Enough chit chat. Without further adieu, I bring to you...Purple Phoneix!

How did you mask off the letters on the PSU shroud? I'm trying to do the same thing to mine (in a different color of course) but i can't seem to figure out a good way to do it...

Tape over, xacto knife the letters, pull tape that's not over a letter.

There's space in between the shroud and the letters, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work

I did just as AlwaysFSX stated. I used Blue Painters tape and just cut out around the letters. Followed by peeling off the outer layer. Works like a charm.

I don't see why it wouldn't?

And here is the finished product. I must say...bending acrylic is tricky.

Wow, you watercooled an H440...And it looked good!

I'm very impressed as a fellow H440 owner, and i must say the purple is amazing.

Is there a 240mm rad in the top? It's hard to tell from the pics :P

Thanks so much! Yeah I put the 240 in the top and the 360 in the front. The 240 was a bit of a pain to get in there. When the fans are attached my TUF armor was almost preventing them from fitting. But I got it in there...barely. And you cant see the 240 in the last pic because until I can find a piece of acrylic or plastic to stick in there...I have a piece of plasti dipped cardboard covering it. Those fans just stuck out like a sore thumb. haha

That's a really beautiful build, I love the purple accents on the case. Incredible water cooling and neat cable runs. I think we need more pictures, especially of that water cooling :D

Also, so far so good on the temps. While watching a stream and playing a game, the CPU maxed out at 53°C and the GPU maxed out at 40°C. Lets hope it stays around these temps at max load. *crosses fingers*.

Looks great, mate. Well done! I have the H440 myself and plan to watercool in the not-to-distant future, so it's always great to see how others have it laid out.

Yours is the first I've seen that uses up the area above the PSU shroud, which is a creative use of the space. However, I'm curious as to where you have your hard-drive(s) mounted, seeing as your res is using up the SSD area and the front 360 rad no longer allows you to use the HDD trays.

Cheers, Sam

To wager a guess, they're probably tossed behind the motherboard tray. I say tossed, but taped is probably more approriate.

Thanks for the reply, Norman.

With the tight space behind the MB tray, I'd be interested to see how it is mounted.

Cheers, Sam

I only use a 1tb SSD. And I just have it tucked away behind the motherboard tray as stated above.

Just an idea for future building, but wouldn't it be easier to use flex tubing behind the mobo tray? I just think it might be easier. Looks great though!

So, signatures are a thing. How does one do them? Is this right?
