1080p 124/144Hz or 1440p 60Hz?

Hi guys, I am currently using a Gigabyte GTX 780Ti Ghz Edition, it's a completely new build, so far I'm using my old 1366*768 monitor and I can't wait to get out of it.

Problem is, I don't know a good monitor and I suck at choosing them.

I've seen the benchmarks for the 780Ti online and I can't figure out what way to really go.What I've even seen is that I would need a DisplayPort for it as HDMI can't wiggle more than 60Hz and well, IT'S A 780Ti.

My budget is approximately 300$ and region isn't a problem as well, I'll do whatever it takes to get it.

Please kindly help me.

P.S-Is there any 1440p 120/144Hz monitor? Could you post a link for it?

Thank You

120/144hz is just a fad and totally unnecessary.

The issue is not the card, its HDMI... it just flat out sucks. We should all move to DP IMO.

I love my VG248QE, which is an ASUS 1080p 144hz monitor. Having that refresh rate is awesome. I love it so much when playing CS:GO or a really competitive shooter. Since you have a 780 Ti you can achieve 120ish FPS on BF4 1080p ultra. But.........since you have a 780 Ti you also have the ability to push many games at 60Fps at 1440p.  IPS is great if you have used it all your life and switched to a TN monitor, which many people said they could not stand the mediocre color reproduction of TN monitors.

Yeah, lots of words. It comes down to this:

120Hz/1080p/TN if you are extremely competitive (I mean it, you have to have a really weird competition problem like I do to care about it).

60Hz/1440p/IPS if you love the beauty.

If you have the money (about $800) then there is the ROG Swift PG278Q 144Hz 1440p TN -panel monitor coming out soon from ASUS. But it's TN. A very good TN panel though.

If it you even care, I can see the difference between 144Hz and 60Hz. It's pretty obvious which one you are using. It's not unnecessary.

Except when I'm working with high framerate footage frequently :P Yeah, unnecessary for gaming. But some people prefer a better experience.

I have the Asus VG248QE, and can tell the difference, as @APrettyCoolWalrus has said.

I really wish that we'd just make organic hardware already, that grows and adapts to the demands it needs to meet. That way, grannies' computers can be floppy sacks of organicness and the 12 year old Minecrafters will look like the guys that only do bicep curls, and the nerdy programmers will finally have justice, with their body-builder rigs that skipped leg day.

Thank You

QNIX QX2710 Evolution II PLS / XSTAR DP2710 (single input) is 1440p and can be overclock to atleast 96Hz but suffers from image retention and raises gamma past 60Hz+

Temptest Overlord X270OC / Catleap 2B is 1440p S-IPS and doesn't suffer from the above issues and can overclock to 120Hz but have a buzzing sound once overclock.

MOTV M2700 uses the same S-IPS from above and can also overclock to 120Hz for a cheaper price but is hard to find.

Yeah, we're all just a bunch of idiots experiencing nothing more than the placebo effect.

not really, apart from input lag reduction (60Hz = 16ms, 120Hz = 8ms...) most 120Hz/144Hz has strobe backlight mode which reduces or eliminates motion blur that makes it similar to CRT motion clarity.

Yeah, we're all just a bunch of idiots experiencing nothing more than the placebo effect.
