Water + Galaxy S4 = no good

I need help. long story short, waterbottle leaked all over my friends phone and sat there for a good half an hour to an hour. i told him not to power it on but he did anyway to find the capacitive buttons are no longer working. the phone doesn't get service either. right now its currently being blow dried. is there any way to save it?

He should of put it in a bag of rice.

And no.

Edit: You could always try RMAing it, probably won't work.

Try your local phone repair shop.

If he waited and put his phone in rice, it could actually be working.

Now he would probably have to pay $100+ to repair it, because he wasn't patient.

EDIT: Try putting it in rice anyway and leave it for up to 48 hours.

You never know, it could come back.

P.S take out the battery.

Turn it off while it works.

Water may still be inside the device.

DO NOT BLOW DRY! That can cause water to be forced down into the phone and can cause vapor buildup in certain areas.

Stick the phone in rice or silica gel for about a day or two, with the battery removed.

If desperate, dip the phone in 99% isopropyl alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol displaces water. Then leave in rice for two days.

You may have to got to a specialty electronics store to get 99% isopropyl alcohol, as it is used as a pcb cleaner.

If the speakers aren't working, there could still be water in the phone.

Remove the back, take out the battery, put it in a bowl of dry rice, don't touch it for a day.
