Review of the Superlux HD 668b

Probenja

So, let me start this review saying that I am not an audiophile or had experiences with many fancy headphones, but watching the reviews this seems to be a good headphone for the price (Amazon link)

The design is not for everyone, they are more conservative than modern, and I would not wear these in public but the fact that they are all black is nice. They are fairly lightweight for the size and they are made entirely of durable plastic but it does not feel premium.

In terms of ergonomics they do fit my head nicely, but if you get these you have to remember that you need to extend the little pads at the top if you have a larger head, the mechanism for them is really stiff but at least it seems durable. The pads at the top are fake leather and they are like air cushions, but the wider your head is the more the pads go down so you will feel them when you wear them but it is not that bad. The headband itself is really flexible but it doesn't feel fragile.

The actual ear cups are comfortable (these are over the ear headphones). The earcups have a slight swivel to them but they do make a grinding noise when you move them and it doesn’t scream quality, the interior padding could be better but at least it is present and the pads are removable but they are made from fake leather that at least in my case makes my ears kinda sweaty and no other headphone has made me feel that before, also the clamping force is a little bit too strong for my taste and I can’t wear them for long periods of time without having to take them off once in a while. At least the earpads are replaceable but the beyerdinamics velour earpads that I found cost the same as the headphones!

Fun fact because the earups are the same on both sides they just filled with rubber the place where the cable goes on the right side which I thought is funny.

The soundquality is great and really nice soundstage so you can really hear where the enemies are coming so it is great for gaming, they are treble heavy but the bass quality is really nice but it is more muted than the highs. So i would recommend these for someone who likes a bit of treble, but they work fine for any music type.

The contents of the box include 2 cables which I didn’t found they had the best quality, the 1 meter cable was too short and the 3 meter was too long, it does come with a snap on 6.3mm gold adapter, also comes with a carrying bag which is nice but not the best quality and a cable clip so the cable doesn’t detach from the headphone also comes branded which is a nice touch. Also something interesting is that the image on the box is quite a low quality which again, i thought it was funny.

So, in conclusion i would totally reccomend these for anyone wanting a set of headphones under $50 for indoor use and that will perform niceley for gaming and music listening. But they are a bit uncomfortable, some people will find them not bassy enough and some of the little details show the cost-cutting to achive that amazing price.

Do it! By far the best headphones I've owned, for the price it's a steal!

Greatest price & quality headphones I've ever owned. Fit perfectly to my taste of music with the high and very dynamic treble they have. Unfortunately my first pair got out of sync very fast and the left cup started to deliver a lot less of that treble I liked over time until it died completely; the 2nd pair I bought is still very functional after 2.5 years of use.

Also check AKG-K241 MKII, just because, design!  :D
