Well, you'd have to ask Linus for what he calls it. But a casual way to describe it would simply be a gliding shot, and to be more descriptive, you could say which direction it's traveling in. Not sure what it's called in the professional scene, though.

Yeah you use a slider like shown above...

Any 3ft slider would do it. Found out that electric ones are more smoother than manual ones.
