Should I disable swap?

I'm almost ready to begin working on my new rig (yay!) and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to disable swap. I'll only have 8GB of RAM, and I don't know if I'll upgrade later on. I will have an SSD as the main drive, so that's why I was curious if I should disable swap on it.

No, leave it. Mabye you can reduce the size but i think it's best to leave it how it is

put swap on a hard drive or make the swap really small... getting rid of it causes really weird crashes / bugs

the smallest size you can have and still put your computer to sleep is 400mb

 

if you're worried about writing to your ssd too much disable indexing and make sure scheduled defrag is off (duh), make sure trim is enabled!!

Just try it & see how it works for you. I've had it disabled since XP with no issues. 4GB, 8GB and now 16GB systems - all worked fine.

And yes, I do play BF3/4 with no issues.

If you will have an hdd put swap there. No swap causes crashes. I tried it on my laptop with Eos and it didn't go so well.

Swap is like virtual memory.

Change it to HDD. It doesn't matter where it is.
