So Im a first time pc builder and I just want to know if it will work or if theres any improvements I can make my range is 500 to 600 and I would love to hear your opinion

Use Pcpartpicker.

AMD gpu's will blow the 640 out of the water for the same price point. AMD is more Price/Performance than Nvidia.

Concerning the graphics card I would consider spending 20 or 30 bucks more to get an AMD Radeon 260X, because it's a lot better than a GT640.
