PC not acknowledging ethernet cable

Hi guys. As the title says, my computer won't recognize that I have plugged in an Ethernet cable. The same cable has worked since before Christmas, and ive plugged it into my Xbox and laptop, both worked fine. I think the problem lies with my motherboard and the socket itself... I re-downloaded the network drivers for the motherboard, but I says I do not have the hardware required. I have attached a few screen shots here so you can see.

My motherboard is a MSI Z87 G45. Any help would be much appreciated.

Is your Ethernet controller visible in Device Manager? If so please post a screenshot of it being noticed by the PC and post the Hardware ID of it.

Hardware ID can be found by right clicking a device > Properties > Details > Hardware ID from the dropdown.

It's not showing indeed, go into your BIOS and see if the LAN Controller is set to enabled. If it is already enabled and still not visible then I think the controller might be broken.

Edit: Your mobo does not have Qualcomm Aetheros hardware, it has Bigfoot Killer E2205 so try those drivers as opposed to Qualcomm.

Yeah it's set to enabled. I'll try those drivers now, will report back

Edit; Any idea where I can get those drivers? MSI site is giving me the same ones i've tried

You could try to install generic drivers from qualcom. One of them should work as the e2200 is an AR816 rebrand. The second driver is the older version from the killer suite 1.1.38 instead of 1.1.42.

http://www.qca.qualcomm.com/drivers/KillerSuite_1.1.38.1281_Win7_Win8_Win81.exe

Also uninstall the hamachi adapter from the device manager. It could be that it accidently reconized the e2200 as virtual adapter.

Bye LTT. That was an interesting journey on this board. At least here you see how not to do it. I'll go shaking my head about this place.

MSI website is shite. It gave me the wrong drivers for my friends motherboard as well.

Edit: Im an idiot, qualcomm is Bigfoot killer, try C3p0's drivers, if they don't work then I definitely think your LAN controller might be broken.

Removed Hamachi and tried both of those, still getting the same message about not having the hardware :/

I know this is stupid, but do you use a correct cable? It has to be a not crossover cable. Otherwise it won't work.

Then your LAN controller or its connections to the mobo might be broken. Do anything else you can think of or RMA the mobo.

Ok last shot. Found this thread about the same problem. Flashing the bios fixed it there. Maybe it's worth a try.

Thanks for the help guys, but alas, the last shot still left me in the same spot. I'll grab a network adapter from amazon and get the motherboard out when I find the time. Thanks again!
