It's hard to believe that it's been a year single Google's streaming dongle arrived on the backs of TVs, bringing easy streaming chops to the masses. As a proper celebration, the folks in Mountain View are thanking both current and new Chromecasters with three free months of Google Play Music All Access -- starting today through September 30th. The company has been keen on adding new features to the accessory regularly, and in the festive announcement teased the ability to beam content while away from your WiFi and customizable homescreens as upcoming additions. Heck, with that bit of subscription savings, you'll almost have enough for a second unit.

Nice prize!

Google Play Music is a great service because you can upload any library items they don't have to the cloud and stream them back to other devices alongside what they do have at no extra cost.

That's pretty cool! It almost pays the Chromecast. GPM All Access is €10/month, the CC is about €30. If this lasts till September you'd have payed €30 by then and now you don't need to.

You do indeed get 3 months for free, but the September 30th thing means that you have until September 30th to redeem your free 3 months. That means that once you redeem it, anytime on or before September 30th, you get 3 free months from that point onward.

So if I bought a Chromecast today, I would get three months starting right now until November 24th-ish

If I waited until September 30th to buy a Chromecast, I would then get three months free until December 30th-ish.

I believe so, yes, you should be eligible even if you're already a subscriber. They'll likely just credit you 3 months for free. You should contact support or look at the "fine print" to verify though.
