Focusing on the HD didn't help UT3. 

muh specs 

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

This game better have some swords. Because Unreal Championship was fun. And so was teleporting halfway across a map with a teammate just to gank some unsuspecting player who had no idea he was about to be sworded to death.

that would be awesome. Face 3 in ut2004 was one of my favorite ctf maps

what game you would play to get into the groove? 

 

Quake Live - its free runs on anything will be a similar game.

Are you suggesting that a game would be better when you add swords?  Are you one of those types of people?  Are you saying that some strangely out-of-place item somehow would actually make Unreal Tournament a better game?  I mean seriously, this is what you believe?

I can't wait for this game! I'm a huge fan of series and I've been looking to play an old school style FPS game like this but with todays tech but there isn't any. Playing QuakeLive and am exited for this. :)

Been looking for this for a while, and Quake Live doesn't have enough people online ever to always be fun. I wanted to get into Rise of the Triad when it came out a year or two ago (the new game) but there were only about 26 people on at launch week and it quickly died down from there. It's just as much as an arena shooter as Quake and UT, but as I see we're all excited here... how come no one hopped on the ROTT bandwaggon since it was going to be a new arena shooter?

 

I'm just saying i'm hoping for this to be great and not die in a week or two or have only a handful of regular players on it like Quake Live does. I want this to be something I can enjoy for over a year.

 

Also Cliffy B is apparently working on some sort of arena shooter with some team he got together. So hopefully one of these will take off and flourish. If not, i'm going to be really sad. I'm tired of this modern shooter crap, the only thing I have left is Halo (which is slowly being killed with each new release) and Destiny is kinda in the same heart as Halo was for me... sorta.
