Gaming Rig incorporating ROG front base panel ~6000$

Hi,

I'm having difficulty finding a PC case which supports the ROG front panel and I'm worried it might not fit or be compatible etc...

I would prefer to keep the budget below 6000 USD.

I intend to custom water cool the system later by myself so do take this into consideration when suggesting a case.

I want my setup to be as quiet as possible.

(I'll limit my choice of radiators, reservoirs & loop later depending on the extra working space that the case allows for)

Here is the list I'm currently going for:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($399.00 @ CPL Online)
Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($275.00 @ CPL Online)

Advice on a case and parts too are welcome

For 4000$ you can get much better stuff...

PSU Overpower unless you wan't 3-4 way SLI. But 1150 Socket can't handle 4 way sli that good(unless PLX chip)

1 TB SSD only? That will fill up fast

Maximus Vii hero? You got a 4000-6000$ Budget. Get atleast a Maximus Vii formula.

But overall, With this budget I recommend waiting for Haswell-e/DDR4/X99, You are not only the one waiting. Me 2.

[spoiler= Dream machine (There is also a buildlog)]

If you want to stay with Aircool:

If I was you I would take 780ti asus matrix to match the rog theme, + H100i for cpu all in a corsair 760T.

Hello and good afternoon :)

First of all: What will you actually use this computer for? Because if you are not doing some insane rendering you will be fine with 16 GBs of RAM and even that is kinda over the top ;)

Second: The GPUs you have chosen are kinda not worth the money. They are just factory overclocked versions of the normal EVGA 780ti cards. If you actually want something from EVGA and it has to be 780tis then go for the 780ti Classified.

Thirdly (Don't know if that is even a word, but oh well): You are going SLI and water cooling with an M-ATX board... Not optimal. Grab yourself a Formula 7 board from Asus which is the same platform and series of boards, just bigger and better :) (EDIT: You will have to buy this later if you want that board since it is actually seemingly not out  ).

Fourthly (I know): If you are going 3 monitors I would personally grab some larger monitors as I find that 24 inch surround looks kinda weird, but that may just be me.

Fifthly: I personally have the "Unstealthed" version of the Blackwidow and it just plain ain't worth it. You will be better of buying either the Corsair K70 or K95 (K95 if you can tackle the slightly higher noise from reds above browns).

Sixthly: All in all: Here is my suggestion with an included case :) I changed the cards to ASUS, but if you want EVGA see point 2 :)

I have two list.

First:

Holy mother of storage. You could probably cut out all those spinning drives and add another 1TB SSD for raid. 10 or 11 TB is probably a bit much imo

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

I'd go for 2 780s 6GB rather than 2 780 tis 3GB, but that's my opinion, that build will handle 3 1440ps just fine

Plus, you may want to go for ROG GPU or 780 STRIX instead of EVGA I mean normal ASUS, a little bit expensive but will fit your ROG scheme

My current rig for entertainment/gaming: i5 4570 3,2GHz; MSI B85M-E45; ZOTAC GTX760 AMP!; 8GB (2x4GB) by Kingston; Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm; Corsair 200R, Corsair VS650; Dell U2312HM, Samsung DVD R/W optical drive; CM Devastator; Corsair MM400 gaming pad

I'm sorry the post was lacking with info but here goes:

Also, In reply to Titanicium:

1. No, I currently don't intend to render. I'm going for 32GB RAM because I will be using the RamDisk feature to make my games load even faster even though it will be fast with SSD I know. Moreover my browsing habits make it so that I have many tabs open at once maybe even youtube videos. I don't want to have close the tabs even when gaming.

2. Thank you for the advice. Edited my part list as required.

3. Will consider.

4. I'm used to gaming on my 17" laptop. and I'm pretty satisfied with it, just wished it was surround. So, not sure if it would be great a idea to leap from 17" to 27" instantly.

5. I chose Blackwidow 2014 because of the lower travel distance to bottom out the keys. I've been gaming on my laptop forever and haven't tried any mechanical KB but have always been told its a better. Once, I went to a shop to try one and the travel distance to bottom out the keys seemed so awkward to me but I guess that's just because I'm used to a laptop. Before the release of the Blackwidow 2014 edition, I was thinking of going with the Razer DeathStalker because it would feel like a laptop. But let me know guys if it's worth it to make myself get used to it as it seems all pro gamers are using mechanical KB so I guess there must be something to it... I'll go with the K95 if that's the case and hope I'll see a difference once I get used to it.

After seeing Linus' video. I'm wondering if the Enthoo pro from Phanteks would make for a compatible case. I like that it has easy to remove and clean dust filters etc...

Would Phanteks Enthoo Pro be compatible with a NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ?

Otherwise I'm thinking of going like you guys suggested, Corsair 750D.

The 840 EVO ssd can use memory to speed up access. I have always found RamDisk to be much more trouble than it is worth.

The Enthoo Pro will house the Kraken X61. You might also want to consider the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 and Arc XL both have excellent radiator support and at least 2x5.25" external drive bays.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
