Putting Debian into hibernation/sleep mode?

Hi,

I have a home server that runs Debian. I would like it to put it's self to sleep or hibernate between 12am and 9am unless I tell it not to. What would be the best way to do this?

sudo apt-get install gnome-schedule

 

After launching it, "New" -> "Recurrent Task". Fill in the form as you see fit.

Should have mentioned, no interface just SSH.

There is no need to install a bunch of GUI libraries for this.

Sounds like you can do something like this in cron:

 

echo `date +%s -d '+9 hours'` > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm
