You can connect it to the TV via hdmi, and use a wireless mouse and keyboard on screen or a bluetooth gamepad for games

Supports all android apps games, movies, music, photos etc etc just like a normal device

Generally those apps and movies would have to be stored locally, but if you have a shared folder on your pc, or a NAS/Server you can use a network folder to share to the shield

OR run PLEX on your PC and you can stream locally stored movies music and photos to your shield

I got iPad 2 and its a bit slow with IOS 7... yeah and games crush on it... i would better be to try out android and something with more functionality. Not sure if i will buy Nvidia shield tablet, but maybe yes. I know its only for 1080p screens but 4K is still new so i will be fine with it for a couple more years.

iPad 2 is a little long in the tooth now so that is understandable

Well it does depend on what you like doing... You can stream your games to an Apple TV from an iPad... Works pretty well (only complaint is that if games do not support it in any way, then the you'll be getting black bars due to the iPad not being 16:9...).

Well...If i want gaming, Nvidia's shield tablet is the best for that...out of home.

Yes, especially in the future. Now, there is no exclusive content for it that makes it stand out of the crowd.

It supports Miracast streaming so if you have a Miracast TV it should work.

Although some games don't support it the number of games that do continue to grow larger.
