Planning To Buy Next Month - $6000 Budget

I work from home and spend all of my time almost everyday at the computer. As a result, I'm dedicating $10,000 to a full office setup and $6000 of that will go to my primary computer. There's a lot going into the build so I've decided I will probably pay the $500 premium and have a company like CyberPower build it for me. (I've built two gaming PCs before but neither were as good as what someone else could do for me.)

Anyways, with that budget, what sort of components would you recommend?

Right now I just have the basic outline but am not even sure of those pieces:

- Radeon R9 295X2

- Intel 4960X

Both of those components could be changed.

Also, I'm not trying to just throw money out the window. Is there any legitimate gaming or otherwise performance benefit with spending $6000 compared to something less like $4000?

If anyone has general ideas for the rest of the setup, I'm welcome to hear those as well. I always end up buying things just to realize I should have gotten something else, so I want to plan everything out ahead of time (going to buy everything in two weeks or so.)

No, don't buy a 4960X. It's for people who don't care about money.

And always build yourself.

I have an idea, I will post in a moment.

You don't need all of those specs to game, the following will be more than adequate for ultra 1080p/1440p gaming and some 4K gaming as well.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($339.98 @ SuperBiiz)

There's really no point in spending that much for gaming, because the performance increase is going to be much more incremental past $3000 or so.

And a GPU setup of that sort would only reach it's true potential past 1080p. Is that what you'll be doing?

You can built a top of the line PC for like $3000 max, after that its just throwing money away.

I set a 2500$ budget max without peripherals because other more expensive options would not give me a significant performance boost for what I would have paid for them.

Don't overspend for no reason.

Yes, I do plan on having 4K displays that will be used for gaming, but it is not a primary use for the system. I just don't want to be in a position where the PC is not capable of doing a certain thing because I decided against including a certain component.

Depends if you play at 4K or not.

Or 3X1440p.

Do you want monitors included, or any peripherals?

Monitors are included in the non-PC budget part of my money. So, the $6K that I mentioned is just for the PC itself.

I know, it is strange, I half wonder how I got into this situation as well.

I graduated from high school 1.5 years early, have been working as a journalist for quite a while, and now I am working full-time as a journalist for a few different places.

In response to your Origin statement, I went through a configured a computer on their site, came out to $5,850 but the specs are lower than what I would get elsewhere if I spend that amount.

I get that I could probably find a way to include it, but I'm not trying to be stupid with the build. Like I originally said, I don't want to throw money away. The $6K figure is just based upon me sitting with a total of $10K for this project and deciding where that money should go.

I can't imagine myself ever taking advantage of what the Titan Z has to offer.

Haha thanks.

Ya, Origin seems absurdly expensive for some of its stuff. I COULD build it myself but things like cable management are just not my strong suite, and having a messy $6,000 build just seems criminal.

haha i hear ya.. building a computer is not rocket science. cable management and stuff like that is easy with a big case. mind me asking why you would need 6000$ if ur writing articles ? :P

i would build it myself if i were you.. its special :P

Definitely do not need the $6K for the writing, could probably get by with a two screens and a Mac Mini if I was just writing articles haha.

The money is going towards gaming, and after reading all of the replies to this thread, I'm beginning to think $6K is silly for gaming and nothing more intensive....

Ya, does seem that way. I think adjusting it to about $4k would end up being the best idea, as there is really nothing past that point that would makes sense for what I am doing..

I've thought about getting this if I don't use up much on the PC: http://www.mwelab.com/index.php/en/products/emperor-1510
